Who does Bryan Greenberg play on ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 5?

Greenberg stars as Jake, from Ann Arbor, Michigan, who is in Paris working as a Consular Officer for the U.S. Embassy.

In short, his job is to help Americans with emergencies abroad, though, surprisingly, Emily doesn’t need his assistance, despite all the questionable situations she’s found herself in throughout her time in the City of Lights.

Jake and Emily meet during a low-point in her life. She’s recently broken up with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), lost a shot at running the Rome office of Agence Grateu, found out that Mindy (Ashley Park) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) have been sneaking around behind her back and learned that Gabriel (LucasBravo) resigned as head chef at his restaurant and is leaving Paris to work on a yacht and travel the world.

While feeling alone and homesick, Emily visits an American pub, which is where she meets Jake at the bar. He invites her to join his team, with Emily becoming their secret weapon to winning Friendstrivia. There’s truly nothing more American than that, aside from the PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) that Emily orders.

After a successful trivia night, Jake invites Emily to come to the Embassy the next day for the 4th of July party. When Emily informs him she’s going to be working since it’s like “any other day here,” Jake has the perfect response—she’s American, and it’s a national holiday.

While Emily isn’t convinced, the fact that hot dogs are on the menu (naturally) is almost enough to sway her. As she later puts it, the French don’t know what they’re missing.

After a terrible meeting where she feels like her boss, Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), only sees her as vapid and boy crazy, she takes the day off and accepts Jake’s invite to celebrate America.

And they do so in the best way possible—by sneaking to the basement canteen and indulging in all the American junk food that isn’t available overseas.

They finish the night off with fireworks, but while it reads romantic, and Jake even gets the signals mixed, leaning in for a kiss, Emily informs him that she’s kind of “kiss-proof” at the moment. After bouncing between Alfie, Gabriel and Marcello, she’s not looking for another love interest. Jake gets friend-zoned pretty hard, but he still plays a crucial role in the season, giving Emily a “taste of home” and helping her realize that she’s been lucky enough to find her tribe in Paris. After her night on American soil in Paris, she mends her broken relationship with Mindy and inspires Sylvie’s L’Oreal campaign.

Bryan Greenberg couldn’t be more thrilled

The actor shared an image still from the latest season, where Jake and Emily bond over their love of American junk food, including Reese’s cereal, Pop-Tarts and M&Ms!

And no Fourth of July celebration is complete without red-white-and-blue sunglasses.

“Jake from Michigan meets Emily in Paris. Watch season 5 of @emilyinparis on @netflix 12/18!” he captioned the post, which garnered plenty of support from fans and fellow celebrities alike, including fellow OTH alums Sophia Bush and Bethany Joy Lenz, who wrote, “We love to see it!!! ♥️🇫🇷♥️🇫🇷♥️🇫🇷” and “🙌🔥🙌🔥🙌🔥🙌🔥,” respectively.
