Kristin Kreukplayed Lana Lang in the hit WB show, Smallville, during the show’s first eight seasons. However, the actress, now 43, wasn’t a fan of all of the show’s Lana-focused episodes.

During a 2024 appearance on her former Smallville co-stars Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum‘s podcast, Talk Ville, Kreuk said she took issue with a season 5 episode, which aired in 2005. In Season 5, Episode 5 (“Thrist”), Lana gets turned into a vampire-like creature after becoming a member of a sorority.

Kreuk explained to Welling and Rosenbaum that she “was angry” about the episode because Lana had to wear revealing clothing without any reason.

“I think I was angry with this one. I was I think, at this point, I got to the point where I was like I don’t want to do this anymore. It’s so objectifying. There’s no point to it, except for to, you know, give me an excuse to wear like a super tight outfit,” said the Murder in a Small Town star. “I think at this point, I had become quite frustrated with this trope of ours, and I wasn’t easy on this episode. I think I made it really difficult for people.”

She explained that she had “fought to change this episode.”

“Which didn’t really get me very far, but yeah, it was a tough one for me. And maybe it wasn’t just this episode, though it was just the straw that broke the camel’s back in a way,” explained the actress.

When Rosenbaum, who played villain Lex Luthor, noted that the episode didn’t make sense for Lana’s character, Kreuk responded that she believes “that’s why [she] started to get frustrated.”

“There was never even a good excuse for it anymore. It was just, ‘We’re just going to do this now because we want to have an episode of filler and fun,'” said Kreuk in the 2024 podcast interview.

She also said that the vampire teeth she was tasked to wear for the episode caused her to have a lisp.

“I was lisping the whole time but you’re supposed to be scary and threatening but no,” said Kreuk with a laugh.
