Will Smith knows how to leave a lasting impression at awards shows—but his steamy display with India Martínez left fans indignant on behalf of Jada Pinkett Smith.
On Feb. 20, Smith, 56, performed with the Spanish singer, 39, at Univision’s 37th Premio Lo Nuestro Awards.

As the duo sang “First Love” at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Fla., some viewers thought their sensual choreography was “inappropriate” for a married man.
Martínez posted a video on Instagram that showed Will leaning in for a kiss on stage before she denied him. Moments later, she walked back over to caress his head and lean in for (seemingly) an actual kiss.

In the comments, many fans brought Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, 53, into the conversation.
One Instagram user wrote, “I was waiting for Jada to come out from left stage and smack the sh!t outta her for kissing her man 🤣😂🤣.”
Another snarked, “Jada will probably sleep with August again after this,” as a different person exclaimed in Spanish, “What!. And what happened to Jada?”
Someone else declared, “Inappropriate. Even if it is ‘entertainment.'”
However, others pointed out that Will and Martinez never actually touched lips.
One shared, “If you actually look. You can tell the attempt was a joke. They never actually kissed. The 2nd attempt when she came back still no kiss he leaned his forehead down as to get their lips further apart and backed away.”
Another Instagram user agreed, writing, “They didn’t even kiss,” as a third echoed, “I didn’t see a kiss. I’m missing something??”
In a different Instagram update, Martinez shared a carousel of images and clips from that night—and one photo showed her hugging Will with her legs wrapped around him backstage.

In October 2023, Jada clarified that although she and Will had been separated for years and living separately, they were trying to reconcile.
“There’s no divorce on paper. We really have been working hard. That’s the whole thing,” she told Today‘s Hoda Kotb. “We are working very hard at bringing our relationship together. Back to a life partnership.”
