He’s remembering the good old days, and bringing his fans along for the ride. Willie Nelson posted a retro interview with Johnny Carson on his Instagram on Wednesday, July 30, sharing his advice on how to handle female fans.

He captioned the throwback clip, “And that’s my advice,” and credited the video to The Johnny Carson Show in 1987. In the clip, Carson asks Nelson about his “groupies” and what he does when they want “more” than “just an autograph.”

Take a watch to see what the outlaw icon had to say!

When Johnny asked Willie how he handles women on the road asking for more than an autograph, Willie replied nonchalantly, “I try to give it to them.” The host burst into laughter at that answer and declared, “Thats the gentlemanly thing to do, my gosh!”

Fans love the clip and flocked to the comments to share their love for the American music legend. One person wrote, “Omg Willie!” and another added, “His wit’s unstoppable.” Others joked with comments like, “Epic I have the same problem” and commented on his ability to make the talk show host howl with laughter with, “There were only a few people who could make Carson laugh like that…”
