Woody Harrelson raises eyebrows with ‘SNL’ anti-vaccine joke – National

When Hollywood actor Woody Harrelson joked about an anti-vaccine conspiracy theory, saturday night live I wasn’t sure how the audience would react this week.
The joke, which has since sparked controversy online, was part of Harrelson’s SNL opening monologue. Harrelson, 61, told audiences he was sent a script for a film that used explicit real-world tropes.

“The movie goes like this: The world’s biggest drug cartels come together to buy off all the media and all the politicians and force people all over the world to lock themselves in their homes. I keep taking it,” Harrelson said.
The punch line is “I threw the script away. I mean, who would believe that crazy idea! Forced me on drugs? I’m doing it voluntarily all day.”
The New York audience burst into nervous laughter and didn’t quite know how to react.
