You can catch free movies and live jazz at The Well in Toronto this month

7 July 20252 Mins Read

The Well, Toronto’s beloved downtown destination, is hosting free movie nights and live music this July. Here’s what to know.

It’s not just about shopping and grabbing a bite here. The Well is all about community. And this summer, they’re making the most of the warm weather with free outdoor events to bring everyone together for some laid-back, feel-good fun.

Jazz Nights

Every Thursday evening in July, starting at 6 p.m., The Court will transform into a mini amphitheatre with live Jazz nights featuring Toronto-based musicians.

Expect a rotating lineup of jazz, soul, funk, and spoken word. Here’s the schedule:

  • July 3 – The TJC All Star Band (Jazz, Motown, Soul)
  • July 10 – Joanna Majoko Quartet (Modern Jazz + Soul)
  • July 17 – All Angels Jazz Band (New Orleans-style)
  • July 24 – Queen Mary Band (Soul, Funk, Jazz)
  • July 31 – Rudy Ray & Co (Neo Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz, Spoken Word)

There will be a satellite bar by The Pier serving specialty cocktails and packaged concessions by Little Harvest. As for seating, come early! It’s first come, first served.

Movie nights

On July 16, The Well will also kick off its new Outdoor Movie Series with a free screening of Ratatouille under the glass canopy.

“These events are open to the public and designed to turn The Well into a summer gathering space for neighbours, families, and city explorers alike,” share organizers.

To ensure maximum comfort, guests are encouraged to bring a blanket and grab some snacks and drinks available on-site.

The movie starts at 8:30 p.m. and is slated to end around 10 p.m.

More movie titles will be announced for July 30 and beyond.

Don’t let summer pass you by while you’re scrolling on the couch — Toronto is buzzing, and The Well is just one of many spots bringing the city to life.

If you’re looking for an easy way to spend a summer evening, this is it. No tickets, no fuss, just a chance to enjoy the season and see where the night takes you.
