Get ready for a blast from the past, Zellers is back in business!
Right here in Edmonton, within the walls of Londonderry Mall, Zellers is opening up shop. It’s the first location in Canada after over 10 years, and the doors opened this past long weekend.
Zellers was a popular retail store in Canada for many years, having begun its retail journey in the 1930s. All locations were liquidated and closed around 2013, and it’s back and better than ever.
This new location takes over 60,000 square feet on the main floor of the mall, overtaking the former Hudson’s Bay.
“We are thrilled to bring back a beloved Canadian brand that stirs up nostalgic memories for many of our shoppers, while providing an opportunity to introduce Zellers to a new generation,” said Henry Zavriyev, CEO of Leyad, the managers of Londonderry Mall. “This announcement represents a bold step forward in reimagining retail space and responding to community demand with purpose and vision.”
The newly reimagined Zellers will be offering a wide range of clothing lines for men, women, and youth, as well as new contemporary home décor. It plans to blend the brand’s rich heritage with modern designs popular today.
It is unclear whether or not the Zellers location will continue the tradition of the restaurants within its stores.
Stay tuned for more information. If the iconic Zellers can make a comeback after many years, there’s still hope for the restaurant.
