Gaylord Hotels has made its debut on the West Coast with the opening of the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in Chula Vista, California. This is the first-ever Gaylord Hotels property in California and the sixth in the brand’s portfolio. The project, developed in partnership with RIDA Development Corporation, cost approximately $1.3 billion.

The resort features 1,600 guest rooms, including 89 suites, a diverse range of 12 food and beverage concepts, a 4.25-acre water park with various pools, and over 477,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center expands Marriott’s group and convention offerings and sets a new standard for immersive meeting destinations. The resort’s meeting and event space includes 135,000 square feet of event lawns and terraces, 67 breakout rooms, and four exceptional ballrooms. Additionally, it houses the largest convention center and ballroom of any hotel in California, with its California Ballroom & Exhibit Hall measuring 140,049 square feet.

The food and beverage options at the resort are led by Chef Jakob Esko, offering 12 unique culinary outlets. These range from the Old Hickory Steakhouse offering refined surf & turf, the Trēo Kitchen + Bar with a seasonal menu highlighting the best of the region’s ingredients, the Growlers Sports Bar & Taproom for the classic California sports bar experience, to the Oeste Bar and Taiyō offering a variety of sushi.

The resort’s 4.25-acre water park offers a range of pools, water slides, a lazy river, and a wave pool. The park also features two dedicated restaurants catering to all ages. Other on-site amenities include the Gaylord Hotels signature Relâche Spa & Salon, a 7,500-square-foot fitness center, and bicycle rentals for off-property excursions. The resort is conveniently located seven miles from downtown San Diego and close to attractions like the San Diego Zoo and Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.
