Labour Day long weekend is almost here, which means you’ve got a whole three days to fill with plans. Luckily, there’s no shortage of things going on around Calgary, whether you want to spend the weekend at a festival, catch a concert, or just find something fun to get you out of the house.

Let’s take a look at 10 of the best events happening in and around the city this weekend.

Spend the long weekend celebrating Filipino culture at Fiesta Filipino. The four-day festival brings live music, dance, food, and entertainment to Eau Claire Plaza, with a stacked lineup that includes Jessica Sanchez, GMA Sparkle Stars, and more.

When: Friday, Sept. 4 to Monday, Sept. 7, 2026
Time: Noon to 10 p.m.
Where: Eau Claire Plaza – 101 Barclay Parade SW., Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

Watch Hiccup and Toothless take on the big screen while the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra brings the movie’s score to life. The concert will feature the full film alongside the orchestra performing John Powell’s Oscar-nominated music.

When: Friday, Sept. 4 to Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026
Time: Friday: 7:30 p.m.; Saturday: 2:30 p.m.
Where: Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium – 1415 14th Ave. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $35

BBQ on the Bow is back for its 35th anniversary, and it’s bringing a whole lot of barbecue to the city. The festival features Canada’s longest-running sanctioned BBQ competition, along with a hot wing-eating contest, and plenty of food to dig into.

When: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept 6, 2026
Time: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Calgary Shrine Stables – 5151 101st St. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

Calgary Pride is turning Prince’s Island Park into one giant outdoor dance party. On Saturday evening, drag superstar and DJ Trixie Mattel is headlining the celebration, with a lineup of DJs, drag performers and other entertainers joining her for a night of music and festivities under the stars.

On Sunday, the Dickens Beer Garden will take over the space with performances, local food vendors and more. Entry is free, and the event is open to all ages.

When: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept 6, 2026
Time: 4 to 10:30 p.m.
Where: Prince’s Island Park – 968 Eau Claire Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Saturday: $40.57, Sunday: Free

The Afro Caribbean Festival is celebrating African and Caribbean culture with a packed weekend of music, food, and entertainment. There will be a colourful flag parade, a cultural fashion show, a kids’ area with games and activities, plus food vendors serving dishes like jollof rice and jerk chicken.

When: Saturday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept 6, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: 311 8th St. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

The annual Calgary Pride Parade will take over downtown this Sunday with community groups, performers, floats and plenty of spirit as the city comes together to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

When: Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026
Time: Noon
Where: Starting at 5th Street SW and ending at 4th Street SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

Keep the Pride Week celebrations going at the Black Pride Festival. The event is a chance to celebrate Black queer joy, culture and community, with an afternoon filled with music, performances, drag and local vendors.

When: Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026
Time: 2 to 7 p.m., 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. (18+ celebration)
Where: Cold Garden Beverage Company – 1100 11th St. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

You can step inside a piece of rock n’ roll history this weekend at the King Eddy. The Rolling Stones Mobile Studio, the legendary recording truck used by the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and other artists, will be the centre of this unique listening and storytelling experience.

You’ll get to step inside the studio and hear the stories behind Sticky Fingers while learning more about the history of one of music’s most famous recording spaces.

When: Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026
Time: 2 p.m.
Where: King Eddy – 438 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $45

Heritage Park is hosting a Labour Day Tea, complete with finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and your choice of tea or lemonade. The afternoon will take place at the Famous 5 Centre, with plenty of time to explore the park and its historic buildings afterward.

When: Monday, Sept. 7, 2026
Time: 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Where: Heritage Park – 1900 Heritage Dr. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $24.95 plus GST

The Calgary Stampeders are facing off against the Edmonton Elks at McMahon Stadium in the annual Labour Day Classic.

When: Monday, Sept. 7, 2026
Time: 4 p.m.
Where: McMahon Stadium – 1817 Crowchild Trl. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $24.95 plus GST
