September is here, and with it come fall festivities to carry Calgarians through the changing seasons. Just because the leaves are changing colours and school is back in session doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of fun left to be had!

If you’re ready to make the most of the coming month, here are ten festivals worth putting in your calendar.

World-class pianists grace Calgary with three unforgettable days of recitals, collaborations, concerts, and more. You haven’t experienced the piano quite like this!

Experience authentic Italian culture and cuisine at this showcase of local Italian businesses and restaurants, along with entertainment and other fun activities.

When: Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025
Time: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: 917 Centre Ave. NE
Cost: Free

This unforgettable evening celebrates mid-autumn with stunning lantern displays, local vendors, and plenty of delicious food.

When: Friday, Sept. 12, 2025
Time: 4 to 11 p.m.
Where: 2nd Avenue SW and Daqing Square
Cost: Free

Enjoy a full day of beer, music, food, and art, courtesy of Dandy Brewing. You won’t want to miss the no-skip band lineup performing across two stages, and beer samples from 10+ breweries only sweeten the deal.

For one day only, Waterfront Park will be transformed into three lush garden dance floors, where you can jam to live performances of house, disco, DnB, hip-hop, funk, and soul. Is there a better way to celebrate the end of summer?

Calling Calgary cat-lovers! This two-day festival and market is dedicated to all things feline, like cat-focused vendors, adoption booths, performances, and more.

When: Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025
Time: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 701 11th St. SW

Now in its 26th year, the Calgary International Film Festival showcases over 200 feature and short films from Canada and beyond. You can also support local filmmakers by checking out the selection of Alberta features!

When: Thursday, Sept. 18 to Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025

Cost: Varies

Known as Calgary’s Oktoberfest, this event promises a weekend of non-stop beer drinking, bratwurst eating, and lederhosen-wearing good times.

When: Friday, Sept. 26 and Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025
Time: 6:30 to 11 p.m.
Where: 1801 Big Four Trl. SE
Cost: $28+

Learning about science and nature isn’t just for kids! This festival celebrates Alberta’s rich natural heritage with guided nature walks, wildlife presentations, hands-on activities, and interactive exhibits.

When: Friday, Sept. 26 to Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 1440 17a St. SE
Cost: $5

Because who doesn’t love pizza? Local restaurants will compete to create your favourite pizza, which you can rate online. Plus, up to $4 from each pie will support Calgary Meals on Wheels.
