10 fun activities and events you have to try this season in Richmond Hill, Ontario

9 September 20253 Mins Read

Richmond Hill, Ontario, is a thriving city that’s just north of Toronto — and this September, you can discover its charm.

Home to a welcoming community that has grown alongside the city over its rich 152-year history, Richmond Hill has established itself as a bustling and influential urban centre, and now the city is welcoming you to rediscover it.

From gorgeous natural spaces to viral-worthy attractions and exciting cultural events, here’s what’s on deck in Richmond Hill this season.

Park time

Richmond Hill’s parks are lush hidden gems just ready to be discovered!

The city’s largest Oak Ridges Moraine park, Phyllis Rawlinson Park, is a natural space teeming with historical significance, being home to its original farmhouse and barn (York’s oldest designated building). Featuring verdant forests, a community garden, ponds, fire pits, and an off-leash dog area, this park is a must-visit.

Snakes and Ladders isn’t just a fun board game, it’s Richmond Hill’s very own award-winning park with life-sized game pieces. Close to one acre in size and complete with a giant dice set, this game is a literal walk in the park.

Be sure to check out one of Ontario’s largest inclusive playgrounds, Crosby Park, as well. The design makes sure everyone can have fun — including seniors, those with sensory and cognitive impairments, and those with physical disabilities.

You can also soak up the last of the warm weather at Lake Wilcox Park for beach volleyball, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, and skateboarding.

New adventures await at Richmond Hill’s unique attractions and activities, available all year round.

Cool it down at The Wave Pool, York Region’s only wave pool, and one that features a whirling 100-foot waterslide! Swirl down to the pool below and you’ll pass by rainbow effects, translucent sections, and even a step-out finish.

Vintage vibes are the moment at Richmond Hill Pro Bowl (an Umbrella Academy filming site!) where classic bowling nights get a little bit cosmic. Think 10 and 5-pin lanes, classic snack-bar bites, and space-themed decor.

For more city culture, visit the Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts for unique shows like The Filharmonic. They stole the spotlight in Pitch Perfect 2 and lit up The Late Late Show – now The Filharmonic is bringing their viral acappella sound to Richmond Hill for one unforgettable night.

Arts and culture

Discover Richmond Hill’s bustling arts and cultural scene with a self-guided tour of David Dunlap Observatory, home to the country’s largest telescope. Celebrating its 90th anniversary, explore the heritage building and check out the special exhibit boasting exclusive artifacts. You can even test your knowledge in a Live History Escape Room! And before you leave, visit the gift shop to bring home a little bit of Richmond Hill.

Grab your besties and plan for an art day this September! The Richmond Hill ArtWalk is always a good time to tap into the city’s artists. The free, one-day event lets you shop handmade pieces across a range of mediums. Celebrate local art and beauty like pottery, jewelry, textiles, and more.

Rediscover Richmond Hill

Explore the truly endless possibilities of fun awaiting you in the vibrant city of Richmond Hill. Whether you’re down for unique thrills, on the hunt for your next find, an arts and culture buff, or want to reconnect with nature in a stunning park, Richmond Hill has options for you!
