Carve a pumpkin, go through a haunted house, witness National Geographic Live, and much more. Here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (Oct. 14-17).

This year’s Burnaby Halloween Festival is completely transforming the city from Oct. 3 to 31 into the ultimate spooky destination, with over 20 events to choose from for all ages. Whether it’s the glowing magic of Pumpkins After Dark or the Monster Dash 5K, there’s something for everyone here.

At the Vancouver Playhouse this Wednesday, National Geographic Live will bring ecologist Nalini Nadkarni to showcase her work in Costa Rica in the vast tree canopy.

Where: 600 Block Hamilton St.

This year’s RuPaul’s Drag Race Werq the World will take guests behind the scenes of the most exclusive awards show in herstory. Get ready to walk the red carpet hosted by Jimbo as Joan Rivers, as well as performances by iconic queens, Derrick Barry as Britney Spears, Jaida Essence Hall as Beyoncé, Naomi Smalls as Mariah Carey, Marina Summers as Ariana Grande, Morphine as Shakira, and surprise guests, including finalists from Season 17.

Halloween Mystery Nights are back, starting this Thursday, with teams of two to six people invited to complete spooky challenges and collect clues as a mystery unfolds downtown Vancouver. Costumes are encouraged!

Time: 5, 6, and 6:30 p.m.

Vancouver’s scariest Halloween experience is back at the PNE, complete with seven haunted houses, terrifying rides and attractions, and roaming entertainment that is sure to knock your socks off. Weekdays are a great time to get ahead of the weekend crowds and get your scare on.

When: Select nights in October from Oct. 1 to 31, 2025
Time: 6 to 11 p.m. or midnight, depending on the day

Harvest Days is a time-honoured tradition in Vancouver that transforms VanDusen’s 55 acres into a celebration of autumn’s bounty, complete with fall decor, pumpkins, sweet treats, and live music.

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 5251 Oak St. 
Cost: $12.59 to $15.05 per adult, $6.29 to $$10.55 per child

From Oct. 10 to Nov. 2, 2025, you can step into a transformed forest at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and enjoy the spooky vibes. With glowing lights, creepy decor, pumpkins, and haunted woodland creatures coming to life at night, you’ll be able to see a whole different side of this famous suspension bridge.

When: Oct. 10 to Nov. 2, 2025
Time: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., or until 9 p.m. on select nights in October

NDN Giver is the solo debut of the Bill Reid Gallery’s Assistant Curator, Amelia Rea of the Haida Nation. The collection of works explores the layered meanings within everyday and extraordinary gifts that circulate through the potlatch: blankets, canoes, prints, mugs, and beads, to name a few. This collection will be on display at the Bill Reid Gallery until February 2026.

From Friday, Oct. 3 to Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, the self-guided Vancouver Fall Food Fest is back in action with over 15 participating cafes, bakeries, and food spots across Metro Vancouver. So get ready to load up on limited-time sweet treats, including exclusive items with hojicha, chestnut, apples, and more classic autumn flavours.
