From Halloween fireworks to a cirque-themed ball, here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this weekend (Oct. 31-Nov. 2).
With two floors, three rooms of music, five licensed bars, and Vancouver’s top DJs, chefs, and mixologists in attendance, Science World’s Costume Ball is an iconic Halloween event that usually sells out every year. But you’re in luck, because there are still some last-minute spots up for grabs, and this year’s event follows a fun “cirque” theme.
As such, the night will include performances by contortionists, stilt walkers, jugglers, and silk aerialists.

Now in its 22nd year, the Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival brings together some of the brightest local artists and community members for an unforgettable series of 100+ events, nearly all of which are completely free to attend.
The celebrated festival takes place over 12 days and includes a variety of live music, dance, theatre and visual art performances, film screenings, poetry readings, neighbourhood walks, and so much more.

The Hollywood in Kits is hosting a massive Black Parade the day after Halloween with classic emo anthems and spooky decor galore. Costumes aren’t mandatory, but they’re highly encouraged!

Time: 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

On Halloween night, you can check out the beloved annual Fireworks Festival in Richmond, the city’s largest fireworks display and a free celebration featuring live acrobats, jugglers, carnival-style games, festive bites, an inflatable fun house maze, and so much more.

First premiering in 1851 in Venice, Verdi’s Rigoletto tells the story of a father’s desperate love for his daughter and the danger of vengeance. It follows the court jester Rigoletto, who seeks revenge on the Duke for the abuse of his daughter in a thriller that’s equal parts horrific and beautiful. The show will be sung in Italian with English projected titles, with three dates coming up with the Vancouver Opera.

This 90-minute comedy show turns Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire tale into a comical, Gen Z-style retelling of Count Dracula’s story. If you’re looking for something Halloween-themed but still leans into comedy, this is a great show to add to your itinerary this week.

From Oct. 10 to Nov. 2, 2025, you can step into a transformed forest at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and enjoy the spooky vibes. With glowing lights, creepy decor, pumpkins, and haunted woodland creatures coming to life at night, you’ll be able to see a whole different side of this famous suspension bridge.

The Improv Centre on Granville Island has a new show to check out on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as select Thursdays until Nov. 1, 2025. I Know What You Did Last Weekend focuses on a group of friends who experience a tragic accident and are forced to keep a deadly secret. Inspired by ’90s teen slasher films, the show is sure to bring on the laughs.

The Kent is hosting a night of spooky music, dancing, mischief, and madness behind every mask. Guests can expect food and drink by Prosciutto and Friends: Bloody Butchers, two full-service bars, and tarot readings.
