The long weekend is almost here, and we’re planning for a fun-filled few days. Calgary thrives in the winter, so there’s no need to stay home. Here are 10 of the very best things to do in Calgary this weekend.

Need a spot to cheer on Team Canada this week?

Tops will have Canadian-inspired cocktails, comfort food classics, photo opportunities, and late-night Olympic celebrations all week.

During Family Fishing Weekends, Albertans and visitors are encouraged to give fishing a try on waterbodies with open fishing seasons, without having to purchase a sportfishing licence.

When: Saturday, Feb. 14 to Monday, Feb. 16, 2026
Time: All day
Where: Waterbodies across Alberta
Tickets: Free

Spend Family Day exploring, learning, and discovering together at The Military Museums. This special event invites families to experience Canada’s military history through a wide range of engaging, interactive, and educational activities designed for visitors of all ages.

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy a variety of activities throughout the Museum, including:

  • Weapons handling
  • Rations Tasting
  • Black powder rifle demonstration
  • Pilot talks (with real pilots!)
  • A book launch event and author engagement
  • Wargaming sessions
  • Genealogy and family history exploration
  • Hands-on history station
  • Additional demonstrations and programs across the site

Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Country singer Lindsay Ell is capping off the week with a show in Calgary.

Join the Central Library in celebrating the start of the Lunar New Year with music, performances, cultural showcases and demonstrations, a dragon dance and much more.

Where: Shaikh Family Welcome Gallery, Central Library — 800 3rd St. SE.

Enjoy free admission at select Alberta museums and historic sites on Family Day.

Hang out with a Tamandua Ant Eater, meet a sloth and hop with baby kangaroos!

Cost: $18; Kids 3 and under get in free

Although admission to the living museum is usually ticketed, the National Music Centre will offer free access to Calgarians on Family Day. This gives you the opportunity to take a blast through the past of Canada’s vibrant music history.

Where: Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre — 850 4th St. SE, Calgary
Cost: Free

Chinook Blast will bring unbeatable performances, impressive art installations and seasonal activities to the heart of the city, according to organizers. Expect dazzling lights, music, and markets which will bring some much-needed warmth to some of Calgary’s chilliest days.

The annual Penguin Walk has returned to the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, and you can see them march at 10:30 a.m. daily.
