It’s officially fall here in Calgary, and you know what that means: time to carve a pumpkin or two, slump into a sweater, and stomp on crunchy leaves with reckless abandon.

There are plenty of great ways to celebrate the season, but we’ve compiled the ultimate list of can’t-miss activities. From Halloween carnivals to jaw-dropping light installations, here are ten fun things to do in and around Calgary this Sept. 22-26.

Get on the boo crew at Calaway Park! This Halloween-themed event is brimming with actors in costume, meet-and-greets, spooky scenes, and parade floats.

All aboard! The Highway 3 Ale Trail takes road trippers on a tour of eight craft breweries in Medicine Hat, Taber, Lethbridge, and the South Canadian Rockies. Adventure the open roads through Southern Alberta and start this tour surrounded by beautiful coulees and bluffs in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. Find the perfect pour straight from the tap, with hops harvested by friendly farmers, and kegs crafted by community brewers.

Granary Road‘s annual Harvest Fair is back for four weekends of fall fun from Sept. 20 to Oct. 12, 2025. An all-access admission will allow you to participate in a variety of family-friendly activities, including the popular annual pumpkin hunt and a scenic tractor ride through lush autumn trees.

This might be one of the best social hour specials in the city! Social hour at Browns includes 1/2 price bottles of wine every day between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close. Pair it with good vibes and even better company.

The 26th year of CIFF will offer over 200 feature films and shorts from Canada and beyond, with organizers describing it as “one of the strongest lineups in festival history.”

The town of High River will welcome more than 20 highly skilled balloon pilots from Canada, the U.S., and Europe at this annual host air balloon festival.

Night Light will illuminate Calgary’s downtown core with jaw-dropping art installations at unique sites in Victoria Park.
