It’s the most wonderful time of the week. Time to call up your pals (or plan a solo day/night out), time to buy those tickets, time to fill those empty spaces in the calendar. Yep, the weekend is nearly here, and as always, there’s plenty to do in the city. From TIFF to what are sure to be unforgettable concerts, these are 10 of the best things to do this weekend in Toronto.

TIFF is officially underway, which means movies, street parties, after-parties, and everything in between are the talk of the city.

Our guide will tell you everything you need to know, where to go, and which celebs you can spot.

When: Friday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept. 7 (festival on until Sept. 14)

Cost: Prices vary

Celebrate diversity at Christie Pitts Park all weekend long.

Global flavours, performances, and activities will take over the park, and entry is free.

The historic Cabbagetown Festival returns Sept. 6 and 7.

The 46th Annual Cabbagetown Festival is back with more food, music, shops, performers, and family-friendly fun than ever.

The FREE two-day event will entertain visitors of all ages with DJs and live music, street performers, artisan stalls and shops, food trucks and pop-up patios, giant outdoor games, a Kids’ Zone, a historical Cabbagetown photo exhibit, and more.

With over 250 vendors representing cultures from Canada and across the globe, the city’s longest-running street festival has something for everyone – EDM DJs, blues and rock bands, indigenous performances, global eats and treats, kids’ entertainment, artisan shops with handcrafted goods, apparel, gifts, art and jewellery, plus stilt walkers, drag performers, and more.

When: Saturday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m

This annual, free-to-attend celebration of Trinidad and Tobago’s culture is happening all weekend at Nathan Phillips Square.

When: Friday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept. 7
Where: Nathan Phillips Square – 100 Queen St. W.

Time: Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

Cost: $226+ per ticket

Morgan Wallen not for you? Maybe System Of A Down is more your pace.

The band will perform at the new Rogers Stadium, also on Friday evening.

Okay, so I only recently discovered Alabama Shakes, and I am so glad I did.

If you’ve never seen them live or listened to their music, I HIGHLY encourage you to get tickets to their show this weekend in Toronto.

When: Saturday, Sept. 6
Time: 8 p.m.
