Spring is just around the corner, and for Netflix, it means a significant spring cleaning of its Original library. March 2026 will see the departure of several long-standing series, international gems, and a comedy heavyweight. While many of these titles were produced by external studios for Netflix (hence why their licenses are now expiring), the loss of the Bluth family will be felt by comedy fans worldwide.

Note: The Last Kingdom, which is scheduled to leave Netflix US later this year, is leaving Netflix Canada first on March 9th, as we’ve covered here.

Leaving March 1
Budapest (2018)
Starting the month is the French comedy Budapest. Inspired by true events, the film follows two best friends and business school graduates who quit their boring corporate jobs to start a bachelor party planning agency in Hungary.
The film originally landed on Netflix in March 2019 following its theatrical run in France. Now, exactly seven years after its digital debut, the license for this raunchy comedy has reached its end.
Leaving March 4
Secret City (Seasons 1-2)
This high-stakes Australian political thriller starring Anna Torv is set to depart after a long tenure on the service. Produced by Matchbox Pictures, Secret City sees a relentless journalist uncover a web of conspiracies in Canberra.
Netflix picked up the global distribution rights for the series back in 2018, but with the license from Foxtel expiring, both “The City and the City” and “Under the Eagle” chapters will be leaving the platform.
Leaving March 5
Dogwashers (2021)
This Colombian dark comedy (originally titled Lavaperros) was a pandemic-era acquisition for Netflix. It tells the story of a mid-level drug lord who refuses to pay a debt to an up-and-comer, leading to a chaotic spiral involving his loyal (and not-so-loyal) henchmen. After a five-year stint as a Netflix Original, the film is heading for the exit.
Leaving March 8
Immortals (Season 1) and Shadow (Season 1)
March 8th will be a double-whammy for international genre fans.
First, we lose the Turkish vampire series Immortals (Yaşamayanlar), which brought a moody, industrial aesthetic to the genre when it arrived in 2019.
Joining it is the South African vigilante series Shadow. Starring Pallance Dladla, the series followed an ex-cop with a rare condition that makes him immune to pain as he strikes out to help those the police can’t. Both series are departing seven years after their initial release.

The Resistance Banker (2018)
One of the most acclaimed Dutch films in Netflix’s library, The Resistance Banker tells the true story of Walraven van Hall, who bankrolled the Dutch resistance during WWII by creating a shadow bank. The film was a massive hit in the Netherlands and has been a staple of Netflix’s historical drama offerings for eight years.

Arrested Development (Seasons 1-5)
This is the big one. While Netflix famously “saved” Arrested Development for Seasons 4 and 5, the rights to the entire series—including the Netflix-produced seasons—are owned by Disney (via 20th Television). We’ve seen scares about this show leaving before, but it appears the 2026 expiration date is the definitive end of the Bluth family’s residence on Netflix. If you haven’t finished the “Fateful Consequences” remix of Season 4, now is the time. Fingers crossed, like last time, the series secures a last-minute extension, but no word yet.

Under Suspicion: Uncovering the Wesphael Case (Season 1)
This Belgian true-crime docuseries follows the high-profile court case of politician Bernard Wesphael, who was accused of murdering his wife in a hotel room in 2013. The series arrived in 2021 and is departing exactly five years later, following the standard licensing window for many of Netflix’s European documentary acquisitions.

The Yin Yang Master (2021)
Not to be confused with The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity (which was also released on Netflix), this 2021 Chinese fantasy film is based on the popular game Onmyōji. Starring Chen Kun and Zhou Xun, the film is a visual spectacle of CGI and martial arts. Its five-year license is now coming to a close.

Brian Simpson: Live from the Mothership (2024)
In a surprisingly short window, Brian Simpson’s debut Netflix special is set to depart just two years after its release. Netflix has been experimenting with shorter licensing deals for certain stand-up specials lately, and it appears this set—recorded at Joe Rogan’s club in Austin—is one of them.

A Life of Speed: The Juan Manuel Fangio Story (2020)

Finally, for the F1 fans who have already binged Drive to Survive, this documentary on the “Godfather” of Formula 1 is leaving the service. The film uses archival footage and interviews to explore how Juan Manuel Fangio won five world championships in the 1950s using cars that were essentially “death traps.” It departs after a six-year run.
