2000s pop legend JoJo—known for her 2004 smash hit “Leave (Get Out)”—dropped jaws with her performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” 20 years after disappearing from the spotlight.
On Friday, July 11, JoJo (real name Joanna Noëlle Levesque) performed the national anthem at Madison Square Garden ahead of the women’s boxing match-up between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor.

In video clips shared on social media of JoJo singing, fans were floored by her voice.
One TikTok user declared, “The queen kills it once again! 💚🔥💚🔥.”
Another shared, “Jojo’s voice is amazing!”
Someone else pointed out, “The energy in this performance was amazing! Jojo really knows how to bring the hype before such a big fight. Perfect way to set the tone for Taylor vs Serrano!”
A different person echoed, “Killed it.”
Meanwhile, yet another TikTok user admitted, “I was so confused. I was like wow. JoJo (Siwa) actually can sing. Then it panned to the person singing. lol.”

In addition to “Leave (Get Out),” JoJo was known for another track, “Baby It’s You.” She went on to appear in several TV shows and movies, including Aquamarine (2006), Hawaii Five-0, All American and more. In 2023, JoJo made her Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge.
