20 January 20263 Mins Read

Gateway Theatre, AKA Richmond’s hub for the performing arts, has announced its winter and spring shows, and it’s a lineup you won’t want to miss.

The breadth of these performances tackles the ideas, values, and issues that reflect the people of B.C., while nurturing incredible talent and a love for theatre in all ages.

Here’s what you can expect over the next few months at Gateway Theatre.

Where Have All the Buffalo Gone?

Feel free to bring the little ones – this production is perfect to be enjoyed by youth ages nine and up, and is a great way to celebrate Family Day. Where Have All the Buffalo Gone? follows two characters as they journey through seven important moments of Métis history, featuring rich lessons of love, loss, and resilience.

There’s also a life-like buffalo puppet, so what’s not to love?

When: Feb. 16 to Feb. 21, 2026
Time: Showings at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Cost: $23 for adults, $13.50 for youth

The award-winning and Juno-nominated Silk Road Music is back to celebrate the Year of the Horse, and it’s sure to be an unforgettable performance. Through the blending of traditional Asian and non-Asian instruments, the ensemble’s work bridges cultures and generations in a show that resonates with all sorts of audiences.

This much-anticipated show sold out last year, so don’t wait to secure your tickets!

When: Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026
Time: 2 p.m.
Cost: $25

Wildwoman

This isn’t your regular historical drama; it’s a cool historical drama. Wildwomen puts a hilarious spin on the story of Catherine de Medici’s time in court as a young newlywed to King Henry II of France. But, in typical period piece fashion, the gals are scheming, the guys are desperate for male heirs, and there’s a hot wildman kept in the dungeon.

Described as “a viciously funny and sexy thrill ride,” Wildwoman is best for audiences 16 and older.

When: March 26 to April 4, 2026
Time: Showings at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Cost: Tickets start at $37 with special rates and discount nights available

The Flame

This free event allows real people to share powerful, personal, true stories on stage in an evening of emotion, insight, laughter, and community.

After all, everyone has a story!

When: Sunday, April 12, 2026
Time: 7 p.m.
Cost: Free with registration
