5 European Netflix Shows Coming in 2026 You Shouldn’t Miss

5 February 20267 Mins Read

For the past few weeks, we have extensively covered all Netflix announcements and country-specific lineups. With the amount of upcoming shows, some of them might get lost in the sauce. Here are five series highlights from the 2026 slate, all from Europe.

If you missed our roundups, you can find full recaps across What’s on Netflix, including for the Italian slate, the French slate, the German slate, the Polish slate, and the Spanish slate.

Bandi (France)

What is it about?

The show is about “a family making its first steps into the criminal underworld after the death of their mother”, made of “children forced to become adults too young and what they are ready to do to save their relatives”.

Who is behind it?

It is executive-produced and co-created by Éric Rochant, mastermind of The Bureau/Le Bureau des Légendes, with Capucine Rochant serving as the series’s showrunner.

Why are we excited?

No casting announcements have been made, even though the show wrapped a while ago. But Narnia it is not: this show features no stars or well-known names, but rather local comedians from the West Indies, where the show has been shot entirely on location. Rochant has likened the show to Shameless, promising a social commentary doubled with a crime show set in Martinique, a region that has not been featured extensively on French TV screens. Sure, there is the long-running BBC show Death In Paradise, as well as counterexamples from public broadcaster France Télévisions, but not a lot of projects have ever aspired to work with local communities for a fiction on a scale generally offered by platforms like Netflix. Therefore, it is the most singular project currently on the French line-up by a country mile (actually 7,000 kilometres out of Paris).

Lobo (Spain)

Sop Lobo 19012026 Jaimeolmedo Dsc 9536Sop Lobo 19012026 Jaimeolmedo Dsc 9536

What is it about?

This miniseries dives into the dark legend of Manuel Blanco Romasanta, a traveling tailor in 19th-century rural Galicia who became Spain’s first documented serial killer. During his trial, he famously claimed to be a werewolf, sparking a legend that persists to this day.

Who is behind it?

Alberto Marini and Juan Galiñanes, who worked on Prime Video movie Fatum ; Marini also co-created and wrote on gritty counterterrorism drama La Unidad. This is their first project for Netflix.

Why are we excited?

Lead actor Luis Tosar is an award-winning character actor who was seen in many Spanish movies and TV shows, including the Netflix miniseries The Minions Of Midas from 2020. But mostly the logline promises a bizarre dive into judicial Spain, with the original case, the only recorded one of lycanthropy in the history of Spain, promises to mix courtroom drama, psychological portraying and eerie aesthetics. Simply said, this looks like Spain’s answer to Jack the Ripper stories, which is enough to garner our attention.

The Doll (Poland)

BLACK VOLGA

What is it about?

Based on the book by Boleslaw Prus, the series is a saga in the background of the “Spring of Nations” in mid-19th Century Poland, but also in the midst of the Russo-Turkish War in Bulgaria. It follows a nouveau riche merchant, Stanisław Wokulski, through a series of trials and tribulations occasioned by his obsessive passion for an aristocratic beauty, Izabela Łęcka.

Who is behind it?

Director Maciej Kawalski.

Why are we anticipating it?

We have extensively covered the numerous book-to-screen adaptations being produced around the world by Netflix, but most of them rely upon biographical stories or current events. Only a handful of them are literary classics, and the Italian adaptation of The Leopard is the closest project in ambition we can think of ; that miniseries apparently failed to register with subscribers. However, costume dramas, romance and lush aesthetics are still very much in fashion on the platform, and this high-budget saga features all of that in spades. It was highlighted during the recent 2026 lineup reveal for Poland, and we shall find out whether Polish and global subscribers fall in love with it later this year. Color us intrigued.

The Case (Sweden)

The Case Netflix Swedish SeriesThe Case Netflix Swedish Series

Who is behind it?

Creator George Kay, who recently left Lupin ahead of its upcoming fifth season and instead is multiplying new series, like this one, Hijack on Apple and the upcoming War starring Dominic West for HBO and Sky.

What is it about?

As endless summer takes its hold over Stockholm, a different kind of darkness sets in. Clean cut, highly regarded lead investigator Thomas Berg has a serial killer on his hands. With the brutal murderer targeting his police colleagues, Thomas makes a desperate gamble, turning to a once well-regarded but now out of favour, misanthropic ex-detective for help. His estranged father, Alfred. If they’re to stand any chance of protecting their fellow police officers, they must put their differences aside and find a way to work together. Only then will they catch one of the worst killers in Sweden’s history.

Why are we excited?

The ambition of George Kay knows no bounds, and he went to write a Nordic Noir story on the turf of Stockholm. But the British writer also has a great handle of singular characters full of personality, and this post-Lupin project, which was announced after wrapping its shoot last summer, should be no exception. It should also introduce new faces to subscribers, such as Jakob Oftebro, who was one of the leads of TV2 thriller Warrior, which was on Netflix globally back in 2018. You can find out more details on The Case in our preview story.

Untitled Medical Drama (Norway)

What is it about?

At the emergency ward, it doesn’t matter who you are—rich or poor, influencer, carpenter, or minister. If you’ve broken something, if you’re bleeding, or if you need help, you’ll get it. Despite low staffing, little time, perhaps one too many cups of coffee, and a demanding crowd of patients, a team of exhausted but resilient doctors and nurses are ready to help. Sofia (Sara Khorami), a surgeon with more talent than patience, is sent into this chaotic environment to save her own career—the last place she wants to be. There, she encounters disorder, resistance, and something she never expected: warmth, community… and love. Suddenly, she faces a choice: continue alone on her path to the top, or become part of something greater – a bond she never knew she needed. A family.

Who is behind it?

Screenwriters Harald Rosenløw-Eeg (La Palma, The Arctic Convoy), also a book author, and Jan Trygve Røyneland (The King’s Choice, A Storm for Christmas), alongside director Henrik Martin Dahlsbakken.

Why are we anticipating it?

Medical dramas are all the rage in global television, with a recent surge in global sensations, through Italian format Doc and its American remake on FOX, and obviously the runaway success of The Pitt on HBO Max. Even if Netflix licenses some of the most well-known medical dramas, such as Grey’s Anatomy, Doc, or Chicago Med, in key territories, its own productions in the genre have not had a lot of draw, such as last year’s Pulse. So, this project displays a lot of promise and possible global reach, with a rare Scandinavian incursion into the genre, an up-and-coming local star in Sara Khorami and a dive into the Norwegian healthcare system.

Are you anticipating any additional European projects to be announced? Are you excited for our own picks? Let us know in the comments below!
