5 local shops in Calgary to find the perfect Father’s Day gift this year

15 June 20263 Mins Read

Father’s Day is slowly sneaking up, and if you’re still stuck on what to get, you’re definitely not alone. And if you want to skip the generic gas station finds this year, there are plenty of local shops around Calgary that make it easy to find something a little more thoughtful.

We’ve rounded up some of our favourites so you can skip the stress of running from store to store and find something great in one place.

Let’s jump into it.

If your dad treats grilling like a personality trait, Luc’s European Meats is the place to go. They carry everything from sausages to specialty cuts that instantly upgrade any barbecue. A great option here would be to put together a custom meat pack or grab a mix of their charcuterie-style items.

When: Open Wednesday to Sunday
Time: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Calgary Farmers Market West – 55 Greenbriar Dr. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Meat starting at $9

For the dad who already seems to have everything, a pair of socks might not sound very exciting at first, but hear us out. Friday Sock Co. is a local Calgary business known for its purposely mismatched socks featuring fun designs inspired by everything from golf and hockey to bacon, whiskey, and the great outdoors.

So whether he’s a golfer, hockey fan, or appreciates a good dad joke, there’s a good chance you’ll find a design that feels made for him.

When: Open Monday to Friday
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 428 28th St. NE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Socks starting at $16.95

Don’t have time to shop in-store this year? Local Love Gifting Co. is an online-based Calgary company that creates custom gift boxes filled with local products, so you can quickly build something that feels thoughtful and tailored, even when you’re short on time.

When: Open 7 days a week
Time: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Online only
Cost: Gift baskets starting at $108

Some dads are notoriously difficult to shop for, especially when they insist they don’t need anything. That’s where Steeling Home comes in.  Located on 17th Avenue, this Calgary-based business creates handcrafted steel décor, custom signs, fire pits, and outdoor pieces that add personality to any backyard or patio. This is the type of place to find a gift that could earn you favourite-child status.

When: Open Wednesday to Sunday
Time: 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Where: 1010 17th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Items starting at $7

If your dad’s uniform consists of a hoodie, a ball cap, and whatever’s most comfortable, Local Laundry is basically made for him. Known for its relaxed Alberta-inspired clothing, the brand offers everyday essentials like hoodies, tees, and hats that your dad can wear on repeat.

When: Open 7 days a week
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 1212 34th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Apparel starting at $22

If anything, this is your reminder that Father’s Day gifts don’t have to be complicated. Calgary is full of local shops that make it easy to find something your dad will use, wear, or eat right away. And that’s a win.
