5 new steakhouses in Toronto you need to try at least once

22 February 20253 Mins Read

New steakhouses in Toronto are the spots you need to check out no matter whether you take your meat well-done, medium or rare.

From opulent venues serving nothing but the classics to more grassroots operations offering inspired versions of traditional fare, steakhouses in Toronto may be plentiful, but, like snowflakes, no two are the same.

Here aresome new steakhouses in Toronto you need to try at least once.

Animl Steakhouse

If you want a true taste of what steakhouses are really all about, look no further than this dazzling King West gem that blends sultry-yet-spunky 70s-inspired interiors with an equally impressive menu of elevated staples, from a caesar salad where the croutons nearly outweigh the greens and Wagyu pastrami to a selection of premium dry-aged steaks.

Blue Bovine

On the other hand, if you want to get a glance at how the paradigm of the old-school steakhouse has shifted to meet contemporary cravings, this swanky spot at Union Station should give you a good idea.

Sparing no small crumb of opulence in either the interior design of the space or on the menu, you can expect to dive into equally impressive steak and sushi menus, the latter of which features a bounty of premium, dry-aged cuts.

Linny’s

While opening this Ossington steakhouse-meets-deli may have been an unexpected move for MIMI Chinese and Sunnys Chinese kingpin, David Schwartz, it was an instant hit among the city’s stylish set. Nostalgic interiors are paired with a menu replete with deli staples and unique sides for a truly singular steakhouse experience.

Chop Steakhouse Toronto

The long-anticipated flagship location for this popular steakhouse chain which boasts five restaurants in the GTA has finally landed in the Financial District, and it does not disappoint.

Though decidedly less colourful in its presentation or menu offerings than some other entries on this list, there’s something to be said for keeping things classic, and for doing classic really well. Here, you’ll find every manner of staple from crab cakes and lobster mac n’ cheese to filet mignon and bone-in ribeyes.

J’s Steak Frites College St.

The hotly-anticipated sister location to a much-loved West Queen West spot, this Little Italy restaurant buys into the philosophy of doing one thing really, really well; and if steak frites are your thing, you should, too.

At this unpretentious restaurant, there’s only one thing on the menu; a $60 prix-fixe that includes a 10oz NY Striploin, their house salad and unlimited fries. Frankly, what more could you want?
