5 of the most unique and jaw-dropping Airbnb stays in Ontario, Canada Reviews

30 June 20264 Mins Read

These Ontario Airbnbs offer much more than a standard hotel stay or cottage rental, proving there’s no shortage of unforgettable places to stay across the province. From sleeping beneath the stars in a transparent dome to spending the night inside a nearly 200-year-old building, here are five of Ontario’s most unique Airbnb stays that are well worth adding to your summer travel bucket list.

1. A glass dome tucked away in the Muskoka forest

Host: Allure Muskoka, Huntsville
Space: 2 guests, 1 bedroom
Distance: About a 2.5-hour drive from Toronto

This glass dome is just 10 minutes from Huntsville and offers a glamping experience that doesn’t skimp on comfort. The dome is hidden among the trees near the Big East River and lets guests wake up surrounded by forest while still enjoying modern luxuries.

Inside you’ll find a queen bed, a full kitchen, a wood-burning fireplace, a bathtub, Wi-Fi and air conditioning, while outside there’s a private hot tub, an outdoor shower and a fire pit for evenings under the stars! It’s designed as an adults-only escape, so perfect for a romantic getaway.

2. Spend the night inside a beautifully restored church

Host: The Loft on St. Paul’s, Belleville
Space: 2 guests, 1 bedroom
Distance: About a 2-hour drive from Toronto

This former church was built in 1878 and has been transformed into a stylish loft for two while preserving much of its original character! Guests have access to a private backyard complete with a hot tub, sauna, outdoor kitchen, fire pit and a private patio that’s just perfect for stargazing. Inside you’ll find a huge piano for added charm along with an in-suite projector for cozy movie nights and a spa-like bathroom with a deep soaker tub.

The property is also within walking distance of Belleville’s waterfront, marina, restaurants and trails, making it the perfect base for exploring the city before heading back for a relaxing evening.

3. A Scandinavian cabin hidden in Muskoka

Host: The Wood House Muskoka, Coldwater
Space: Up to 8 guests, 4 bedrooms
Distance: 1.5-hour drive from Toronto

This bona fide wood house has become something of an Instagram fave, and it’s easy to see why! The Scandinavian-inspired log cabin sits on two private acres along the Severn River, surrounded by towering pine trees and a granite landscape. The four-bedroom retreat features soaring interiors, a renovated kitchen with heated floors, a wood-burning fireplace, a riverside balcony and a floating dock overlooking the water.

Guests can swim, paddle using the property’s canoes and kayak, or relax in a hammock before gathering around the fire pit after a day exploring nearby Six Mile Provincial Park. There’s tons of space, so perfect for families, singles, couples and groups.

Oh, and your pet is more than welcome, too!

4. Spend a few nights inside a nearly 200-year-old building

Host: The Poplars Suite, Cobourg
Space: Up to 4 guests, 1 bedroom
Distance: Less than a 1.5-hour drive from Toronto

History lovers can spend the night inside what is officially recognized as Cobourg’s oldest building! The Poplars Suite dates back to 1827 and occupies the town’s first licensed short-term rental inside the nearly 200-year-old landmark. While the building embraces its historic roots, the private two-storey suite has been updated with modern comforts including a full kitchen, Wi-Fi and free streaming services. It’s about a 7-minute walk from Cobourg Beach, the pier and the downtown core, so perfect for a relaxing beach weekend.

5. A private escape at an eco-friendly yurt in the Thousand Islands

Host: Eco Yurt Retreat, Charleston Lake
Space: 2 guests, 1 bedroom
Distance: About a 3.5-hour drive from Toronto

This secluded yurt sits on a historic country property just minutes from Charleston Lake Provincial Park, in the heart of the Thousand Islands region, making it the perfect escape for travellers craving a romantic getaway or anyone who simply wants to unplug.

Despite its back-to-nature setting, the space includes thoughtful comforts like a queen-sized bed, electricity, satellite internet, a wood-burning stove and a heated outdoor shower. Guests can spend their days hiking, paddling or spotting local wildlife before settling in around the fire pit for a quiet evening beneath the stars.
