6 romantic getaways to take in Alberta as summer turns to fall

31 July 20253 Mins Read

Hard to believe it’s nearly August — anyone else feel like they blinked and summer was suddenly half gone? Although a rainy July may have put a damper on outdoor activities, that doesn’t mean you can’t make the most out of the weather we’re getting.

August and September are ideal months to enjoy a romantic getaway. The weather is as reliable as it can get in Alberta, with an earlier-setting sun promising change on the horizon. Take it all in, hand-in-hand with your partner, at one of these dreamy locations.

This all-inclusive experience puts the “glam” back in glamping. When you stay in a canvas tent or geo-dome at 350 Farms, you’ll be greeted with Prosecco and chocolate-covered strawberries on arrival, and will have full access to 151 acres of untouched boreal forest. You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into a fairy tale.

Where: Township Rd. 640, Bonnyville No. 87

Just a short drive from Lake Louise, this intimate mountain resort offers luxurious amenities, private cabins, and cozy suites. Plus, you can lean into some friendly (or not) competition with onsite horseshoes, bocce ball, badminton, and more. Winner buys dinner!

Where: Bow Valley Parkway, Lake Louise

This serene mountain retreat nestled in the heart of Waterton Lakes National Park is the epitome of coziness. With gorgeous views of the marina and lakefront and an onsite spa, you won’t have to venture far for a relaxing retreat.

Where: 111 Waterfront Ave., Waterton

This wellness sanctuary is a refuge from the modern world. Enjoy treatments at the world-famous Nordic Spa, indulge in fantastic cuisine and drinks at the onsite restaurants, and sleep like a baby in the Pomeroy Mountain Lodge. Leave rested, rejuvenated, and ready for anything.

Where: 1 Centennial Dr., Kananaskis

While Jasper is still in the process of rebuilding some of the units following last year’s devastating wildfires, plenty of the gorgeous cabins are ready to go. Enjoy boat rentals, unmatched views of Pyramid Lake, fireplaces, and on-site dining at this little slice of paradise.

Where: 6 km North on Pyramid Lake Road, Jasper

Journey through lush trees and wildflowers to discover the Malcolm Hotel, a Canmore hotel perfect for a romantic getaway with that someone special. You can even upgrade to the Romance in the Rockies package, which includes rose petals, a bottle of house wine, and a $100 dining voucher to enjoy a romantic dinner at the Stirling Grill & Lounge.

Where: 321 Spring Creek Dr., Canmore
