August 28 marked the beginning of the 2025 Venice Film Festival, the 81st edition, which aims to highlight international cinema and is known in the industry as one of the premier events to debut a film. Since then, we’ve seen an influx of memorable standing ovations and stunning red carpet looks. Fans were delighted to spot a few rarely seen faces, including ’60s model turned actress Charlotte Rampling, 79.

Looking striking in a simple black oversized suit with a white satin shirt underneath, she stood hand-in-hand with Cate Blanchett as the two attended the debut of their family-drama film, Father Mother Sister Brother. Fans were enamored with her short gray hair and timeless elegance.

“Charlotte Rampling: still gorgeous and an incredibly talented actor,” wrote one besotted fan.

“This is respect,” noted one fan of the two actresses together. “From one generation to another. Beautiful! Female solidarity, female acknowledgement.”

“I’ve loved her for years,” claimed another. “Class act. This is the way [women] age and I love her for that.”

Their co-stars for the new film include Vicky Krieps, who is seen in the video with Blanchett and Rampling, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Tom Waits, Indya Moore, and Luka Sabbat.Variety reports that the movie follows three separate stories and explores the relationships between adult children, their semi-distant parents, and each other, while set in different countries. It earned a five-minute standing ovation from festival attendees.

What Is Charlotte Rampling Most Famous For?

Though spending years making French and Italian arthouse films, Rampling is best known for her controversial role in Liliana Cavani‘s The Night Porter (1974). The actress “infamously” played a Holocaust concentration camp survivor who rekindles her “sadomasochistic relationship” with the Nazi guard (Dirk Bogarde) who tormented her during her time there. Since then, the actress has starred in countless films and TV shows, including roles in blockbuster hits like Dune, as well as notable series like Dexter.

Rampling has also never shied away from embracing her age, though she is now fully embracing her gray hair, letting go of the soft brown tresses she wore for years. In a 2012 interview with The Daily Mail, Rampling pledged to never go “under the knife” to adhere to modern beauty standards, once saying, “This is how I am. I’m still a very attractive woman despite my age — so get used to it.”
