In 2025, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star Mia Sarahadher first big-screen role in ten years with The Life of Chuck. While talking to Pete Ferriero on his podcast, The Slice of Life Show, Sara admitted that it wasn’t the acting she’d missed but the “camaraderie,” she said. “I missed being on a film set because I grew up on a film set.”

Sara had begun work on her first movie when she was 15. After she stepped away, she wrote poetry and spent more time with her husband, Brian Henson, and kids. But an unexpected dinner with director Mike Flanagan and his wife, Kate Siegel, lured her back.

After explaining to them why she stopped acting, Flanagan asked whether she would return to the industry. After telling him that she didn’t know, Henson decided to jump in. “‘Offer her something, and she’ll do it,'” she recalled him saying to Flanagan. “And so he did, he called my bluff. I said, ‘For you? Of course, of course.'”

Married to Luke Skywalker

Not only did he offer her a role in the Stephen King adaptation, but the icing on the cake was that she got to play Mark Hamill‘s wife.

“Mark Hamill is like a dream boat of a man, a dream boat,” Sara gushed. The Life of Chuck is the first film Sara and Hamill have starred in together, but it’s fair to say that she’s a longtime fan.

“I grew up in the seventies. Are you kidding?” She told PEOPLE in 2025. “I couldn’t believe when [Flanagan] told me that it was Mark Hamill [who] was going to play the grandpa, I couldn’t believe it. I get to be married to Luke Skywalker. It’s the greatest thing.”

Sara also admitted that she “tried” not to fangirl over the Star Wars actor and instead focused on making their on-screen relationship as realistic as possible.

“We had so much fun actually,” she said. “Because we knew we had just this little short moment, but we really had fun just trying to convey the loving relationship. And when it was over, we just thought, ‘Oh, that’s not enough. We want to do more.'”

A Short But Sweet Return

What started as a casual dinner conversation turned into the perfect Hollywood comeback for Sara. Driven by nostalgia for set life and the chance to work alongside Hamill, she found her role in The Life of Chuck to be an unforgettable experience. Though her time on screen was short, we doubt it’ll be the last we’ve seen of Sara.
