Another month is upon us, and with it will come a bunch of great new movies. Below, we’ll guide you through our top picks for the month, including the new Netflix Originals coming to the service globally, as well as an overview of the licensed titles specifically making their way onto Netflix in the United States (note that lineups in other regions may vary).
Of course, this is just a taster of the full list of new releases on the way throughout June 2025. We’ve got the full list of new arrivals for the month in our full guide.
Let’s begin with our most anticipated new Netflix Original films on the way:
Most Anticipated New Netflix Original Films for June 2025
KPop Demon Hunters (2025)
Coming to Netflix: June 20th
Netflix’s animated feature film slate for 2025 appears to be a diverse mix of genres. There are no clear home runs that look set to challenge the viewership crown of Leo, but K-Pop: Demon Hunters seems to fall into that same niche summer slot previously held by Nimona. Based on early footage we’ve seen, it looks like another creative win from Sony Pictures Animation for Netflix, following the success of Wish Dragon and The Mitchells vs. The Machines.
Directed by Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang and featuring a stunning cast including Arden Cho, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, and Ah-Hyo-seop, the film follows a K-pop band who lead double lives. On the one hand, they’re globally known artists, and on the other, they’re demon-hunting warriors.
While the story won’t be to everyone’s taste, there’s no denying the animation on display is absolutely visually stunning, furthering my belief that Sony Pictures Animation is really the studio to beat this point when it comes to raw quality.
STRAW (2025)
Coming to Netflix: June 5th
Tyler Perry Summer continues with his second of three major projects coming up over the next few months, with She The People already released its first half (more to come in August) and a new Madea movie scheduled for July. One movie we’ve been keeping a close eye on is STRAW, an ambitious new drama that was only shot in a matter of a few days.
The official synopsis of the film reads, “A single mother’s world unravels in chaos as her day goes from bad to worse to catastrophic as she struggles to care for her ill daughter. Pushed to the brink by a world that seems indifferent to her existence, she’s forced to confront impossible choices in a society that offers her no safety net.”
I’ll be the first to admit not everything Tyler Perry has produced has been a homerun, but honestly, this one looks like it could be a hard-hitting winner.
Our Time (2025)
Coming to Netflix: June 11th

Picture: Netflix
On the international movie slate, Our Time is the stand-out for me, given that it seems like a rather compelling sci-fi story and unconventional from what you’d traditionally expect from a Mexican movie. Serving as both a sci-fi movie and a romantic comedy at the same time, the flick sees a husband and wife scientist duo in the 1960s manage to do the impossible, create a time travel machine. Where do they travel to? 2025! Can they survive in the future filled with new technology and changes in norms? It turns out one can adapt faster than the other. The film stars Lucero, Benny Ibarra, and Renata Vaca.
Grenfell: Uncovered
Coming to Netflix: June 20th
Finally, we want to give a spotlight to Grenfell: Uncovered, a heartbreaking documentary covering the recent tragedy in London that saw a poorly constructed and maintained tower block engulfed in flames. This documentary retraces the cascade of decisions leading up to the fire and during it that eventually led to many, 72 in fact, losing their lives. It’s going to be a very tough watch, particularly if you’re from London, but hopefully, it spotlights some issues that still exist to this day with survivors, bereaved families, and firefighters all sharing their story of that tragic day in 2017.
I got to see a clip of this earlier in the year at Next on Netflix 2025, and once it faded to black, you could hear a penny drop in the theater. Fingers crossed this story is told with grace, decorum, and sensitivity, doing justice to the victims.
Best Licensed Movies Coming to Netflix
Piece by Piece (2024)
Coming to Netflix: June 7th

Picture: Universal Pictures
Coming to Netflix after its initial stint on Peacock is Piece by Piece, a movie constructed entirely of LEGO (LEGO computer animation, anyway!). Straddling the line between a documentary and a biopic, the movie takes you through a colorful and unconventional tour of the life and career of the multi-award-winning artist, Pharrell Williams, who is almost certainly behind one of your favorite songs or at least collaborated on it.
The film received excellent reviews across the board, although it failed to light the box office on fire; given its fairly niche subject matter, that’s somewhat understandable. If you’re a fan of either Pharrell or, indeed, excellently crafted animation, this should go on your list!
Plane (2023)
Coming to Netflix: June 12th
Action fan aficionados will have a number of movies to check out throughout June 2025, but one that stands out in our mind is the action thriller that sees Gerard Butler teaming up with Mike Colter, Tony Goldwyn, Yoson An, and Daniella Pineda. Making its Netflix debut, the film sees Bulter, who is always a massive draw in viewership on the streamer, in the role of Brodie Torrance, an ordinary passenger plane pilot who finds himself inadvertently thrust into a war zone after being struck by a catastrophic storm.
French director Jean-François Richet is behind the tight R-rated flick, and while it didn’t take home any awards, it’s an incredibly competent action thriller that’s perfect for a night in.
The Intern (2015)
Coming to Netflix: June 22nd
Robert De Niro lost his Netflix TV cherry earlier this year with the series Zero Day, and if you fancy seeing him in almost the complete opposite when it comes to roles, we have to recommend this Nancy Meyers comedy drama that debuted in theaters a decade ago. Playing the role of Ben, he’s the unexpected candidate who takes on the role of being an assistant to an incredibly stressed and overworked owner of an online fashion site, Jules, played by Anne Hathaway.
The movie feels like the last of a bygone era of theatrical releases, and it’s always refreshing to see De Niro shine in a comedy role. If you need a relaxing watch in June, The Intern is for you.
Us (2019)
Coming to Netflix: June 1st
In case you haven’t heard, Netflix is celebrating the life of the father of the thriller, Alfred Hitchcock, on the first of the month with a slew of his best-known works from the 1950s through to the 1970s, in addition to picking up a few movies that deeply inspired or are adjacent to his works. One of those is the Jordan Peele horror Us starring Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, and Elisabeth Moss. It tells the story of a family who are taking a break by visiting Adelaide’s childhood home. What’s supposed to be a relaxing time becomes complicated by the arrival of doppelganger intruders.
While this isn’t my favorite Jordan Peele movie (in fact, I rank it beneath both Nope and Get Out), I can’t say I wasn’t hooked throughout my entire watch, albeit the last 20 minutes really let the film down, at least in my humble opinion. Nevertheless, fantastic performances, classic Peele tension and world building, and cinematography to die for; this should be at the top of your list if it isn’t already.
The Night Before (2015)
Coming to Netflix: June 1st
Seth Rogen’s career over the last five years (maybe more) has been remarkably impressive. From producing and starring in some of the best TV in recent years (he was fantastic in The Studio, the third Apple TV series that I’ve bothered to try!) he will always be known for his vast collection of comedy classics and one that’s celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025 is The Night Before from Sony Pictures Entertainment. Dare I say an underrated gem compared to his other works.
Starring alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie, the story focuses on three friends who have been inseparable since childhood and now have an annual tradition of spending the last decade turning Christmas Eve into a wild night of chaos and laughter. But with adulthood on the horizon, their beloved tradition is coming to a close. Determined to make their final celebration unforgettable, they embark on a quest to attend the legendary Nutcracka Ball – the ultimate Christmas party.
