Madeleine Stowe was one of the most iconic stars of the ‘90s, starring in films with Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. Alongside stars like Julia Roberts and Demi Moore, Stowe helped define a generation of leading ladies who dominated the big screen in the 1990s. Though she’s stepped back from Hollywood and is rarely seen, photos published today show the Last of the Mohicans star during a rare outing earlier this year.
Stowe, 67, looked effortlessly casual and relaxed while out and about in Los Angeles with her daughter in the photos published by the Daily Mail on Saturday, August 30. She wore a light gray RiverFest graphic ringer tee paired with loose, wide-leg striped pants that gave her look an easygoing, breezy vibe. She kept accessories minimal, carrying just her phone and wearing simple black flats. Her long brunette hair was worn naturally down with soft waves, giving her that understated, timeless beauty fans remember.
Her daughter, May Theodora Benben, opted for a similarly relaxed vibe in a vintage-style Luckenbach, Texas T-shirt paired with denim shorts, black slip-on shoes, and a brown crossbody bag.

Madeleine Stowe Steps Away From Hollywood
Stowe starred in several films in the 1990s, including 12 Monkeys, Bad Girls and The General’s Daughter, but after the birth of May, she and husband Brian Benben decided to trade the hustle and bustle of L.A. for a quiet town in Texas where they bought a ranch and settled down.
“I never thought, ‘I’m retiring,’ but I didn’t feel that ‘thing’ revving in me. I was much more focused on May,” Stowe said during an interview with People in 2011.
However, she admitted that even then, she wondered if she had made the right decision.
“It was frustrating at times,” she continued. “But now I see how she’s turned out, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Benben, who she was married to for more than 40 years, passed away in 2024, and Stowe has kept her private life even quieter since his death.
Her Comeback in ‘Revenge’
The China Moon actress made her return to acting, much to fans’ delight, with her role as Hamptons socialite Victoria Grayson in ABC’s Revenge in 2011. Her performance as the icy matriarch was widely praised and she earned a Golden Globe nomination for the part in 2012.
