'90s Star, 53, Gushes About Working With Heather Locklear: 'Dream Come True'

8 July 20253 Mins Read

David Charvet may have stepped away from Hollywood, though he will always look at his time of working with Heather Locklear on Melrose Place fondly.

“Heather Locklear was an actual dream come true to work with because she was so sweet, and she was such a veteran pro. She said to me, ‘David, don’t worry. I got you. I’ll be here for you,’” Charvet, 53, told People in an interview published on Tuesday, July 7.

After he was introduced to fans on Baywatch as Matt Brody, Charvet continued his acting career when he was cast as Craig Field on Melrose Place. During his time on the show, Charvet said that Locklear, 63, helped him prove that he had range as an actor.

“I was honored that Katherine Schaffstall Aaron Spelling offered me a role to be on the show,” he told the outlet. “It was a pivotal moment for me because I was doing Baywatch, and I really wanted more, and I wanted to do more things.”

Charvet added that he initially worried that starring on Baywatch would pigeonhole him into certain character stereotypes.

“Baywatch was my first gig, and when you start a show like that, sometimes people have kind of an idea of who you are or they think they know you and they think you’re one -dimensional and you’re this or you’re that. The truth is that I was always fighting in auditions to always have to prove myself because I wasn’t just a guy running on the beach,” he said before jokingly adding, “I had some talent, not a lot, but some.”

Charvet gushed that his role on Melrose Place was “a dream come true,” and he got to experience many cool situations such as meeting Elton John.

“This security guard comes up to me and said, ‘Elton John is in backstage getting ready for his performance, and he’s a huge fan of Melrose Place and he would like to meet you.’ I said, ‘Sure, are you kidding? That’s like one of my idols,’” Charvet recalled of the experience. “I went backstage and we sat down and I couldn’t believe that he was that much of a fan of Melrose Place, and he was telling me my storyline and everything. I was so kind of taken aback at how he was so into Melrose Place at the time.”
