’90s TV Icon’s Jaw-Dropping Confession About Dating John F. Kennedy Jr.

A 90s TV icon shared a jaw-dropping confession about dating John F. Kennedy Jr., claiming that she always felt she had to “apologize” for their relationship.

In a 1992 interview with The New York Times, Sarah Jessica Parker of Sex and the City fame, opened up about dating the handsome Kennedy heir. She said she was unprepared for the backlash that came with their roughly six-month relationship.

She called dating John Jr. “the Kennedy fiasco.” The two initially met at a New York City theater, and he asked her out.

Parker soon realized that their relationship was being endlessly documented by tabloids. “We would go places where there wasn’t a soul around, and the next day I’d see pictures of us there in the tabloids,” she explained.

“I have been a semi-public person since Annie,” she said of her 1979 breakout Broadway performance. “But I never had any idea what real fame was until I met John.”

Parker added, “He’s a nice man, but for God’s sake, I feel like I should apologize for dating him. It has become the defining factor in the person I am.”

The actress concluded, “It’s pathetic. When I die, they are going to say, ‘Oh, yeah, Sarah once dated John Kennedy.'”

In a 2018 interview for Bravo’s late-night series Watch What Happens Live, Parker was asked by series host Andy Cohen, “What was it like to passionately kiss JFK Jr.?” She quipped, “What do you hope it was like?”

Cohen responded, “Everything.” She nodded yes in response, saying, “Yes, it was pleasant.”

The talk show host continued, “Did you run your hands through his hair?” Parker answered, “He had exquisite hair, it was like a paintbrush.”

She concluded, “I feel if he were alive, I would feel more comfortable. If he were accomplishing all the things I am certain he would have accomplished and living a really joyful, adventurous life, I would probably feel more comfortable answering more questions about him.”

John F. Kennedy Jr., 38, his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, 33, and her sisterLauren Bessette, 34, died in a plane crash in a plane piloted by Kennedy on July 16, 1999. Sarah Jessica Parker married Matthew Broderick in 1997.
