IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to further expand in Thailand with the addition of a new luxury resort. The InterContinental Phang-Nga Bay Resort, due to open in 2028, will be situated in the scenic region of Samet Nangshe in Phang-Nga.
This development results from a management agreement between IHG and Plaipol Co., Ltd., a prominent gold business in Thailand. The resort will feature 150 units, offering visitors views of Phang-Nga Bay, a national park known for its limestone peaks and breathtaking panoramas.
This property marks the latest in a series of resort developments by IHG in Thailand, where it operates 39 hotels, 15 of which are resorts. The brand has eight InterContinental Hotels & Resorts properties currently open in the country, including five resorts.
Recent InterContinental openings include Bangkok, Khao Yai, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok Sukhumvit. These additions are part of IHG’s growing footprint in key Thai destinations such as Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Koh Samui, Phuket, Khao Yai, and Chiang Mai.
Rajit Sukumaran, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, East Asia & Pacific at IHG, expressed excitement over the new property and the brand’s continued expansion in Thailand. IHG currently has 39 hotels and nearly 10,000 rooms in Thailand, with an additional 33 properties in the pipeline, adding another 7,000 rooms.
Mr Aphicha Sinthuchat, Managing Director at Plaipol Co., Ltd, also expressed enthusiasm for the project. He sees the collaboration with IHG as a chance to contribute to the region’s tourism growth and offer guests unforgettable stays in one of Thailand’s most beautiful locations.
InterContinental Phang-Nga Bay Resort, located a 45-minute drive from Phuket International Airport and 20 minutes from the new Andaman Airport, will offer 150 suites and private pool villas. Amenities will include two restaurants and a bar, a lounge, meeting spaces for 200 people, a spa, a fitness and resort center, a swimming pool, and a Kids Club. The resort’s location will provide guests convenient access to popular Andaman Coast tourist attractions and activities such as surfing, kayaking, island hopping, snorkeling, and limestone cliff climbing.
