The flights have 1 stop in London Heathrow each way.

You can also find flights from Toronto to Mauritius (the beautiful island country East of Madagascar) for $1119 CAD roundtrip. But the flights have an airport change in London in both directions (you do have a decent amount of time to get from Heathrow to Gatwick)
