Following the sudden death of RuPaul’s Drag Race star James Lee Williams—better known as The Vivienne—the drag queen’s ex-husband spoke out on social media about the devastating loss.
David Ludford took to Instagram on Monday, Jan. 6, to share a series of photos of himself and The Vivienne together, with the late performer modeling a variety of different looks including a black feathered dress, a glittery fishnet top, and multiple elaborate wigs.

“My heart is literally shattered, I feel so out of place I feel lost, I feel numb 💔😭😔 Fly high angel and keep shining 🕊️,” Ludford captioned the post.

Ludford’s followers were quick to show their support in the comments.
“Lost a true legend, nobody can take away your amazing memories together 💔,” wrote one person.
“My favourite two ❤️ forever thinking of you,” a second added.
“Your love was so beautiful, I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. You’re in my thoughts David. Please take care of yourself and hold all of those good memories dear. Sending you love xxx,” a third fan chimed in.
Ludford, who ran the wig company Drag Helmet Wigs, also shared photos from the couple’s wedding to Facebook on Sunday, Jan. 5.

“My heart literally sank when I got the call!!” he wrote. “Never in a million years did I think I’d ever be writing anything like this about James Lee Williams.”
“This man changed my life so much from the day we first met in August 2017 in Gran Canaria!!” he continued. “We literally clicked straight away and we knew we was going to be together for along time!! He made me feel love and shown me what it was really like to love someone. we literally went through and did so much together it was like a whirlwind and I wouldn’t have changed the time we spent together for anything In The world!!!”
“I feel like a tit feeling this upset and hurt because we have been fully divorced for just over a year now but we was together 6 year and we loved each other so much and you can’t take away,” Ludford added. “I’m so happy to say I not only met you but we was together, we was husbands and you was the biggest part of my left for such a long time! 6 years is such a long time to spend 24/7 with you will always always have a place in my heart. Going to miss you more than people will ever know sleep tight angel.”
