Karen Suffern lost 52 pounds in My 600-Lb Life Season 13, Episode 3
At the beginning of her episode, Suffern could barely walk from her bedroom to the bathroom in her home. She explained that she was an emotional eater and constantly thought about her next meal; eating was a way for her to cope with anxiety and past trauma.
The last time she weighed herself, Suffern said she tipped the scales at 620 pounds but acknowledged that she probably gained weight since then. She estimated she was 640 pounds but later said she thought she was in the “high 600s” at her heaviest.

Dr. Now wanted her to officially weigh in at a local clinic since she was unable to travel to Texas, but her agoraphobia prevented her from making it to the appointments. Instead, a nurse practitioner came to Suffern’s home, where she weighed in at 604 pounds.
Through video calls, Suffern also met with psychologist Dr. Matthew Paradise to help work through her anxiety and trauma.
Several home weigh-ins later, and Suffern was down to 572 pounds, although she insisted the scale was malfunctioning. She decided to forgo Dr. Now’s help at that point; her final recorded weight on the show was 552 pounds.
