- Hyatt Hotels Corporation and the Scenic Rivers Development Alliance have announced plans for the Okhissa Lake Lodge, the first Destination by Hyatt brand hotel in Mississippi.
- The hotel, set to open in 2027, will feature a 200-room lodge, a 1,000-person conference center, and various amenities nestled amongst 190,000 acres of the Homochitto National Forest.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation and the Scenic Rivers Development Alliance have unveiled plans for their upcoming Okhissa Lake Lodge project. This initiative marks the debut of the Destination by Hyatt brand in Mississippi.
Projected to open in 2027, the lodge will be situated on Okhissa Lake in Franklin County. It will offer guests an exceptional opportunity to explore the 190,000-acre Homochitto National Forest. The hotel’s location near Jackson, in southwest Mississippi, offers a serene setting that is anticipated to attract both leisure and business travelers from around the globe.
The Okhissa Lake Lodge is designed to house a 200-room lodge, which includes cabin suites, a 1,000-person conference center, a swimming pool with a hot tub, a spa, restaurants, and a boardwalk overlooking the marina. With its diverse amenities and strategic location, the hotel is anticipated to be an attractive destination for a variety of guests.
The Destination by Hyatt brand is renowned for its distinctive collection of independent hotels, resorts, and residences. Each property under the brand is meticulously crafted to reflect the unique spirit of its location, offering guests an immersive and authentic experience.
The Okhissa Lake Lodge project reflects Hyatt’s commitment to expanding its brand presence to new locations. Rika Lisslo, Vice President of Development—Americas, Hyatt, expressed her anticipation for the partnership with Scenic Rivers and the opportunity to introduce the Destination by Hyatt brand to Mississippi.
The project has also garnered support from local and federal representatives, emphasizing its potential to boost economic development and create jobs in Southwest Mississippi. U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) asserted that the lodge would allow more people to experience Mississippi’s exceptional hospitality.
The Scenic Rivers Development Alliance reciprocated the sentiment, welcoming Hyatt’s commitment to the project and expressing eagerness to showcase the Okhissa Lake Lodge on a global stage.
