Ultra-popular New York-based burger chain, Shake Shack, is gearing up to open its latest Toronto location this February.
After causing a stir opening its first north-of-the-border location in Toronto at the ever-lively (for better or worse) intersection of Yonge and Dundas in June 0f 2024, the chain has been on a steady expansion course ever since.
Much to the glee of burger-and-fry fanatics across the city, the chain later went on to open its second Toronto location, at Union Station, which brought with it the unique addition of a full bar, joining a handful of locations with that specific offering worldwide.
Now, Toronto is about to get its third and final (for now) location of the chain, rounding out the holy trinity, as it were, of greasy goodness in the city.
Opening its doors on Wednesday, Feb. 12 — just in time for Valentine’s Day, because what could be more romantic than a smash burger shared with that special someone? — the latest Shake Shack location in Toronto will be taking on Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
The chain’s first foray outside of downtown Toronto will be located right at the top of the first escalator to the mall food court, and will feature a spacious indoor patio area that’ll give diners ample space to dig into their dishes.
Following the tradition of both the Yonge and Dundas location, which features original artwork from Toronto-based artist, Briony Douglas, and the Union location, which is adorned with art by Toronto illustrator, Pui Yan Fong, the Yorkdale location will be spruced up by Toronto-based queer Mestizx/Latinx illustrator, Vivian Rosas.
As always, at the new location you can expect to get your hands on Shake Shack’ well-loved menu of burgers, crinkle-cut fries, custards, shakes and Toronto-exclusive menu items.
While the chain’s Canadian venture has drawn some mixed reviews from diners, I, for one fall into the pro-Shake Shack camp, and can’t wait for another location to make landfall. I’m just going to wait for the lines to dispell before I go there.
