Toronto’s ultimate winter craft beer festival returns to the Roundhouse this month for a day of local brews, retro regalia and food trucks galore.
I’ll be the first to admit it: a good, old-fashioned apres-ski day party holds a special place in my heart.
There’s just something special about the sensation of hitting an open-air dance floor in your snow pants with a beer in hand that makes winter feel — almost — enjoyable. And if you know how I feel about winter, you’ll know that’s high praise indeed.
Lucky for me, and others who share my passions, the annual Roundhouse Winter Craft Beer Festival is right around the corner, bringing all the magic of a day on the slopes to the heart of downtown Toronto.
This party is a lot more about the brewskies than actual skis though.
Taking place at the Steamwhistle Brewing Roundhouse on Feb. 22, the festival is set to feature over 40 Ontario-based craft breweries, distillers, wineries, ready-to-drink and non-alcoholic companies including Bellwoods, Blood Brothers, Junction Craft and, of cours, Steamwhistle, to appease any palate.
Moreover, because no party is complete without snacks, there’ll also be 10 food stations where you can pick up easy-to-eat handheld bites as well as five food trucks which have yet to be announced.
Did I mention dogs are also welcome at this shindig? It just gets better and better.
Over the course of the day, you’ll be able to hit the dancefloor, which will be fuelled by beats from a live DJ, kick back around campfires, snap shots at a variety of photo stations or throw your hat in the ring at the retro ski gear costume contest.
It should go without saying that this is a 19+ event, and tickets, which start at $55, are already on sale online.
For the really hardcore partygoers, there’s also a $60 ticket option which allows entry an hour early as well as a free toque.
