RIU Hotels & Resorts continues with the generational transition plan initiated with Carmen Riu’s retirement in July 2024. The company’s current CEO, Luis Riu, is introducing the next phase of the process, involving the fourth generation of the Riu family more heavily in the company’s operational and commercial sectors.

This shift is the culmination of extensive training and aligns with each family member’s individual skills and attributes. The goal is to fortify the company’s leadership and preserve harmony between the family and the executive team, a distinctive feature of the company throughout its 70-year history.

The Family Board and the RIU Group’s Board of Directors have agreed on the new responsibilities.

Roberto Riu Rodríguez (31) will maintain his role in the Hotel Design and Construction Department. As Managing Director, he will also oversee Corporate Sales and Marketing.

Naomi Riu Rodríguez (32), currently the RIU Group’s Financial Director, will now also handle Procurement in EMEA and Corporate Social Responsibility. She has been appointed Managing Director and will manage Operations for hotels in the Indian Ocean and RIU Plaza hotels in Madrid, London, and Dublin.

Luis Riu Rodríguez (33) will remain in the Hotel Design and Construction Department and assume responsibilities in Operations for the Atlantic Region. He will also oversee the Group’s Corporate Engineering and Maintenance area.

Lola Trian Riu (40), having implemented the Proudly Committed Sustainability Strategy, will leave her position as Director of Sustainability to manage the Riu family’s philanthropic funds. She will handle relationships with charities supported by these funds, including the Fundación Joan Riu.

Joan Trian Riu (41), a member of the Executive Committee, will join Operations as Managing Director for hotels in the Americas and RIU Plaza hotels in the USA, Toronto, Guadalajara, Panama, and Berlin. He will continue as the company’s institutional representative.

CEO Luis Riu will continue to supervise the company, directly managing Expansion, Hotel Design and Construction, and Corporate Product Design.
