We recently reported on the busiest flight paths in the world for 2024, many of which were concentrated in Asia, however, there are certain hubs in Europe which are proving to be particularly busy at this time of year.
The Eurocontrol European Aviation Overview Report for February 2025 has just been published, and it’s revealed which hubs were the busiest on the continent, based on flights taken from February 3 to 9, 2025.
Each one saw at least 1,000 flights pass through each day, but the busiest of them all was Istanbul Airport with 1,336 in total. While that might sound like a lot, that’s actually a four percent decrease from the previous week, according to Euro Weekly News.
Are we that surprised? Not really, given Istanbul Airport has previously been named as the best connected hub, not just in Europe, but the world – read more about that here.
In second place was London Heathrow, which experienced a 2 percent increase in that week in February and saw 1,276 flights pass through each day. If plans to spend billions of pounds upgrading two terminals and opening a third runway go ahead, this hub will likely see passenger numbers soar in the future.
Following closely behind Heathrow in third place was Amsterdam Schiphol, which had a 3 percent increase with 1,234 daily flights.
