Here’s how to spend a weekend in Prince Edward County

10 March 20253 Mins Read

The incoming warm weather means one thing in my world: a trip to Prince Edward County. This gorgeous area of Ontario is the perfect mix of beach front, country roads, local shops and boutique stays. If you’ve never been then let me suggest a few of my favourite things to do and places to book, and trust me, you’re going to want to add this getaway to your spring/summer bucket list.

My favourite place to stay in Prince Edward County is The Lakeside Motel. This unique spot is made up of two houses with 11 rooms, has a pool, a restaurant, spa amenities, and is just a quick 15 minute walk to the beach.

The property also includes cozy bonfires to sit by, lawn games, bikes to rent and saunas. Once you’re here, you may not even want to leave but I recommend venturing out for the day and checking out more of what Prince Edward has to offer.

Next stop, wine time.

Hinterland Wine has an amazing selection of sparkling wines and plenty of group tasting or individual tasting deals. The countryside farm backdrop is beautiful, with loungers and tables all around the property so you can relax while you sip.

Another winery option is Sandbanks Estate Winery. There are no reservations required for tastings here, so all you need to do is show up thirsty, find a spot to settle in for the afternoon and enjoy your vino.

The Prince Edward County Lavender Farm is also a must. While it doesn’t open for the season until April 5, 2025, this farm not only smells incredible, but it also has a shop where you can purchase everything from lavender soap to lavender-infused snacks.

Finally, head down to Lakeshore Beach to catch the sunset. I recommend packing a bottle of wine, a blanket and the ability to shut your mind off.

My next Prince Edward County trip is coming up soon, and I hope there’s one in your near future too, Ontario.
