Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced plans to expand its UK portfolio by over 30% between 2025 and 2026, signifying the company’s ambitious growth strategy in the region.

In a recent announcement, Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) expressed its ambitious growth strategy for the United Kingdom – the third-largest market in the Europe, Africa, and the Middle East (EAME) region by portfolio size for Hyatt, only surpassed by Germany and Spain. The hotel corporation plans to grow its UK portfolio by more than 30% between 2025 and 2026. This expansion will add more than 1,000 rooms to the UK market, a move that reflects Hyatt’s commitment to meeting the increasing demand for premium guest experiences and purposeful service.

The announcement followed the successful launch of Hyatt Place Leeds and Hyatt House Leeds earlier this month. These dual-branded developments balance operational efficiency with contemporary design, offering 217 and 88 rooms respectively, tailored to meet the needs of multi-tasking travelers and those seeking extended stays.

Further key developments in Hyatt’s pipeline include Hyatt Place London Paddington and Hyatt Regency London Olympia, expected to create approximately 250 new UK jobs over the next two years. The former will mark the third Hyatt Place property in the UK capital, offering 87 rooms ideal for today’s multi-tasking traveler. The latter will be the fifth Hyatt Regency hotel in London and seventh in the UK, boasting over 200 well-appointed rooms within a listed Art Deco building.

Hyatt’s accelerated growth in the UK is further demonstrated by the doubling of its room count and tripling of its property count since 2017. As of today, the Hyatt portfolio has grown to 17 hotels across 9 distinct brands in the UK, with the opening of Park Hyatt London River Thames marking the latest debut in October 2024.

Hyatt’s growth is also fueled by trends such as business travel. In Q4 2024, Hyatt witnessed a 5% increase in meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) inquiries in Europe, with UK properties accounting for more than 7,000 of these. The acquisition of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2023 has also expanded the choices for World of Hyatt members globally, contributing to the increase in World of Hyatt membership, which has grown to 54 million global members at the end of 2024.

Anna Corkill, Regional Vice President of Development for the UK & Ireland at Hyatt, stated, “The UK remains a priority growth market for Hyatt. We are committed to expanding our portfolio of brands in locations that matter most to our guests, members, customers, and owners.” With upcoming openings in London and potential in locations like Oxford, Cambridge, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Cardiff, York, Bath, Dublin, and Belfast, Hyatt continues to bring its renowned hospitality to more travelers.
