IHG Hotels & Resorts and Strategic Alliance have announced a partnership to establish the first luxury branded hotel in South Australia’s renowned wine region – the InterContinental Barossa Resort & Spa.

IHG Hotels & Resorts, in conjunction with Strategic Alliance, plans to open the first globally branded luxury hotel in the Barossa, a prestigious wine region in South Australia. Scheduled to open in 2028, subject to planning approval, the InterContinental Barossa Resort & Spa aims to redefine luxury hospitality.

This 150-room property will offer guests a unique blend of elegance, sophistication, and stunning vineyard views. It marks a significant milestone as the first luxury branded hotel in a South Australian wine region. The resort will provide an unmatched level of luxury and refinement, serving as a beacon for discerning travelers.

The prime location of the InterContinental Barossa Resort & Spa will offer visitors easy access to the region’s world-class wineries and vineyards. Upon completion, the resort will feature a selection of dining options, including a signature restaurant, a lounge bar, an outdoor garden terrace, and the Club InterContinental. Other amenities will include a pool, a day spa, a fitness center, conference and meeting spaces, and access to various outdoor activities.

This new addition to the IHG portfolio underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Luxury & Lifestyle segment in the Australasia Pacific region. Currently, IHG has 22 operational hotels in this segment and nine more in the pipeline.
