Toronto music and comedy fans are in for a treat this spring because a massive festival is coming to town with some huge stars.
The 42nd edition of Departure Festival is bringing more than 100 artists from across the city, Canada and the world together from May 6 to 11.
Whether you’re looking to dance all night to great music or laugh it up with some of the biggest stand-ups in the world, there’s a show for you to discover at the 40+ venues across Toronto. And tickets and passes are on sale now.
“We’re showcasing over 100 emerging and established artists across music and comedy, giving Toronto fans plenty to discover,” said Pat Murphy, Festival Director.
“Whether it’s the next chart-topping musician or a comedian destined for the big stage, it’s a great time to support Canadian talent and catch future stars on their way up.”
The Departure Festival Music Pass grants you access to over 100 showcase artists, including Toronto’s own Jade Hilton, Priyana, Rochester, Charlie Houston, Seago, Mawzy, and more.
You can also catch music headliners such as Mustafa, Quavo, Planet Giza, Tia Wood, Death from Above 1979, Noeline Hofmann, and Sadboi.
On the comedy front, fans can get their fill of laughter with How Did This Get Made? Live, Trevor Wallace, Harland Williams, Peter Holmes, and Leslie Liao.
There will be showcases at The Comedy Bar featuring fast-rising standup stars, New Arrivals: A Departure Solo Sketch Showcase in partnership with The Second City Toronto, and more to add to your calendar.
Departure Festival, formerly known as Canadian Music Week, also features a conference where attendees can learn from music, comedy, art, and technology industry leaders. This includes keynote talks and panel discussions, curated networking and happy hour events, and more.
Conference speakers announced include Grammy-nominated and Juno-winning Tegan and Sara, chart-topping Arkells’ frontman and author Max Kernan, and multi-platinum artist Fefe Dobson.
