Swifties were certainly living “for the hope of it all” upon an auction announcement that revealed a signed Taylor Swift guitar was up for bids — and so were two 2026 concert tickets. Given that the 14-time Grammy winner, 35, had just spent two years on the road on her epic, record-breaking Eras Tour — and has not said anything about a 2026 run — fans immediately took the auction announcement as a tease that Swift, would in fact be embarking on a tour next year. Other fans, however, were skeptical from the get-go.
Now, a spokesperson for the Kentucky gala event is speaking out about their error in wording — and sending their “deepest apologies” to the legion of devoted Swift fans who were hopeful that the 2026 tickets up for auction were a hint at exciting things to come.
“In the most recent Unbridled Eve press release, it inadvertently listed one of our auction items as a ‘Signed guitar by Taylor Swift and two concert tickets during her upcoming 2026 tour,'” auction co-founder Tammy York Day said in a follow-up press release obtained by USA Todayon Thursday, April 17. “Our deepest apologies for getting the Swiftie Nation excited, but it should have said ‘Guitar signed by Taylor Swift and two tickets for a concert during her next tour.’ We have no knowledge whatsoever of when that tour will be.”
After the correction, fans immediately flocked to social media to express their disappointment, skepticism, and more.
“the whole fandom is in shambles thanks to this,” one fan wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter).
“How can they okay giving something away that doesn’t exist essentially,” another person questioned. A third user followed suit, wondering, “Who wants to bid on tour tickets that may or may not exist? Is this a tour 0 years from now?”
“Does Taylor Swift know she’s going on tour again?” asked another fan.
Prior to the correction, one person was adamant that “TAYLOR AND HER TEAM WOULDN’T LET TOUR INFO LEAK” to a silent auction, encouraging fellow Swifties to “use your brains and stop sharing fake/unconfirmed shit.”
