Lady Gaga fans don’t have to physically be in the California desert to celebrate Gagachella — same goes for reacting to her viral mic malfunction during Weekend 2.
When kicking off her first Coachella Weekend 2 set on Friday, April 18, Gaga opened the show with her latest hit, “Abracadabra” — only for the mic to crackle repeatedly before eventually going out during the first verse of the song. Ever the professional, the 14-time Grammy winner stayed singing and keeping up with her choreography until she switched to a head mic that did the trick.
Later on in the set, Gaga addressed the onstage mishap, apologizing for the audio issue.

“I’m sorry my mic was broken for a second. At least you know I sing live,” the “How Bad Do U Want Me” artist quipped to the crowd, who erupted into cheers. “And I guess all we can do is our best, right? I’ve definitely given you my best tonight. I love you so much.”
Gaga’s mic moment — and her subsequent apology — instantly went viral, with die-hard fans across all social media platforms lighting up the internet with their takes on the mishap. Whether they were defending the “Shallows” singer, praising her talent, posting memes — or jokingly blaming everyone from other A-list pop stars to God for sabotaging her performance — it seemed like every person on Stan Twitter (and beyond) had something to say about the viral error.

“LET IT BE KNOWN THAT WHILE SHE HAD MIC ISSUES, NOTHING WAS HEARD. MEANING: THIS BITCH SINGS LIVE LIVEEE! #GAGACHELLA,” one person wrote in all-caps on X (formerly Twitter).
“One thing that mic going out is gonna do is beat any EVER lip sync allegation,” another fan agreed.
“the microphone tried to knock her down but talent won,” a third user praised.
“gaga’s mic breaking during the first song….. EVERYONE’S GETTING FIRED,” a fourth person declared.
Others joked that the mishap was due to the rat-like behavior of Gaga’s A-list “rivals.”
“someone said ‘it was Beyonce in the back chewing the wires,'” someone quipped on TikTok.
Another user claimed it was a different pop icon. “it was Madonna back there chewing on the wires,” they joked.
Then Taylor Swift — or at least her fans — got thrown into the discourse. “swiftie’s tampering w Gaga’s mic during abracadabra #GAGACHELLA2025,” wrote an X user.
The fact that Gaga also performed “Judas” on Good Friday — the hit famously named after Jesus’ disciple who betrays him — had some believing that that was the reason her mic went out. (Gaga performed “Judas” immediately after Abracadabra.”)
“Someone said it was Jesus for singing Judas on Good Friday 😭,” the fan joked.
