Starhotels has announced the acquisition of the Hermitage Hotel & Resort in Forte dei Marmi, Italy.
Situated in the heart of Versilia, the Hermitage Hotel & Resort is an eco-friendly family resort set in a vast one-acre park, surrounded by pine forests and offering views of the Alpi Apuane. The hotel, established in the 1970s and later renovated by architect Vittorio Maschietto, features 59 rooms and suites, a sophisticated bar and restaurant, and a large swimming pool amidst the park, which also houses a dedicated vegetable garden for the restaurant.
After the 2025 summer season, the hotel will become part of Starhotels’ Collezione portfolio. This strategic acquisition marks a major step in Starhotels’ expansion into the resort sector.
The acquisition signifies Starhotels’ first venture into the resort segment, taking place in Tuscany, where the company’s story began 45 years ago. The agreement with the Maschietto family, the hotel’s original founders, aligns with the values of family-owned businesses in the hospitality sector.
The Hermitage Hotel & Resort will retain its unique identity while benefiting from Starhotels Collezione’s management expertise and high standards. Plans are underway to make targeted investments to further enhance the property and improve the guest experience with new services, sustainable initiatives, and an increasingly refined lifestyle offering, all in harmony with the natural surroundings.
This acquisition is part of Starhotels’ dynamic 2024-2025 period, which includes the reopening of the iconic 5-star Hotel d’Inghilterra in Rome and the upcoming opening of the 5-star Hotel Gabrielli Venezia – Starhotels Collezione and the launch of Teatro Luxury Apartments Firenze – Starhotels Collezione, a luxury residential offering in Florence.
