When the merge of Survivor 48 started, a select group of players had a dream: An alliance of the physically strongest, hoping to reverse a trend of the “new era” in particular and get to the end together in an honest and loyal way. But this week’s episode proved that plan was only just that, a dream. While the “strong six” was able to stick together at the last vote, paranoia began to run rampant of cracks in the alliance. As a result, the first big swing of the postmerge happened, as one player’s game suddenly ran dry.

Who got voted off on Survivor 48 tonight?
Robert Voets/CBS
David Kinne
While David walked into Survivor 48 with the least amount of knowledge about the show among his cast, he knew the role he would likely play given what he’s seen in the past. One of the physically strongest people in the new era, he knew he would be relied on premerge, then get picked off as a threat as soon as the individual game hit. And so the milk lover came up with an idea to pair some meat with his dairy, creating a “strong six” alliance with the goal of getting the strongest players to the end while also promising not to betray one another.
Unfortunately, the stunt performer realized that, for many of the “strong six,” the plan was just a stand-in. Cracks already began emerging in one of their first big votes as a group, with the alliance torn between voting for Chrissy and Kamilla. David ultimately did not get his way as Chrissy was booted, and the two of them got into it on her way out. Despite the group voting together, he was not pleased with how much Kyle and Shauhin changed the plan last-minute, and began to clock that they were working with Kamilla outside of their group. But his (correct) paranoia only proved to alienate himself further, as some believed he was causing unnecessary disarray with his scrambling. Ultimately, the man of beefy biceps proved to be too big of a weight for some of his allies to move forward with. And, after an afternoon and evening of uncertainty, his worst fears were confirmed when he was blindsided and sent to the jury.

Were any advantages found or played on Survivor 48 tonight?
Yes! Last week, as a reward for winning the Immunity Challenge, Eva received an opportunity at night to take part in a game of chance in the hopes of winning an advantage. She initially got an Extra Vote, but chose to risk that in favor of a 50/50 shot at Safety Without Power. Her game paid off, earning a “get out of jail free card” from Tribal Council. And she ultimately chose to walk out with that, not wanting to risk it again to receive an idol.
