Ending Explained & What Comes Next

Rallied by Hera, the Olympians were ready to make a final stand against Cronos and the Titans. However, Cronos offered the Olympians a chance to change their fate by joining his pantheon and taking a magical potion that would reset their memories and be “reborn” in Cronos’s image. Seraphim was ready to accept Cronos’ offer, but Heron was able to persuade his brother not to join the titan.

Hera offers Cronos a chance to settle the score through the “old way” by a contest of champions. Initially reluctant, Cronos accepted when learning that Heron and Seraphim would be the champions of Olympus, mocking their chances as two demigods would be outmatched against two titans. 

Before the fight, Demeter tells Heron about cutting his thread, which she did out of revenge for Zeus taking Persephone from her. Demeter offers his cut thread back, and Heron receives a brief vision of the happiness he could lead, but chooses to fight on. Heron and Alexia also admit their feelings for each other, with the latter offering to be his shieldbearer in the fight. 

Heron and Seraphim’s fight with Cronos and Typhon begins, but the titan’s strength soon overwhelms the demigods. Heron offers to buy more time and uses the power inherited from his father to draw Typhon’s attention. Meanwhile, Seraphim uses his Biden and the Adamantium Sword together to strike a deadly blow against Cronos.

Heron overloads his power against Typhon and, in an incredible heroic but destructive act of self-sacrifice, kills the titan, leaving Seraphim to fight against Cronos. However, Zeus arrives, reinforced by the Olympians, and the giants take the fight to the Titans and win decisively.

Zeus reveals the plan concocted by Hera, which saw them steal Hades’ biden right from underneath the noses of the furies. However, the plan required more time, which resulted in Heron sacrificing himself to save the world from the Titans. In the last act of defiance, Cronos attempts to destroy himself and the Olympians, but Seraphim saves the day with his biden, taking down Cronos once and for all.

With the Titans defeated, some attempted to flee, but many others surrendered. Most importantly, Zeus’s return from the underworld means he takes up his seat as the leader of the Olympians. The gods honor Heron and Seraphim, immortalising the pair with their statues on Olympus, and their constellations amongst the stars alongside the fallen Ares and Hephaestus.

Lastly, Heron is reunited with his mother in the Elysium Fields, with Seraphim visiting them. Their mother is overwhelmed with happiness over their reunion.

What happened to Hades’ children?

Unfortunately, the budget got in the way of animating the scene, which was planned for Hades to save his children, who would have helped fight the Titans in their own way. 

Charley Paralpanides, co-creator of Blood of Zeus, explained why it was cut in our interview:

“We had a scene when Hades gets freed, and we boarded some of it, and he goes and finds his kids. Then, actually, they tilt the reflectors to burn some of the Titans. But we just couldn’t afford to animate it. We had to cut it for time. It would have been a nice moment to see Zagreus and Mellie there. We boarded a couple of scenes that didn’t make it in. In episode 307, we had Heron and Seraphim sneaking by Cerberus, and it was an incredible scene, and Vince boarded it well. And we couldn’t afford to animate that.”

What happened to Persephone?

For example, in the scene where Hades frees his children, some scenes are left on the cutting room floor, including when Persephone releases his soul from Hermes’ horn.

So Seraphim survived?

Yes! Even though Seraphim was seen in the Elysium Fields, where he was reunited with Heron and his mother, he was visiting the pair as a reward from the gods for his heroic actions in the war against the Titans.

Charley Parlapanides, also explained this in our interview:

“That was always the end. If we went five seasons, that would be the final scene. The idea there is that he’s just visiting, and because the gods are victorious, he’s allowed to go down, but we didn’t, you know, explain that.

The idea was that if this show had continued, that battle with the Titans would have been the opening skirmish or battle, and Cronos would have escaped.

They were going to be a two-season enemy, and Heron would have died in the fourth season to defeat Cronos and Typhon. Then, we had a cool story about where that went with Seraphim for the fifth season, and then he tried to save the world from being destroyed. But when they told us, Hey, we’re going to end here, we said, “Oh, can we still earn this ending?” And we just truncated it, and it all worked out well.  We had to do some reboarding, but as the fates say, sometimes you meet your fate on the road you took to avoid it.”

Who lived and who died in Blood of Zeus season 3?

With the Titans unleashed, the Olympus gods felt Typhon and Gaia’s wrath. This resulted in the deaths of several gods, including:

• Ares – Killed by Typhon, his soul is erased from existence after Cronos throws it into the abyss.
• Hephaestus – Killed by Typhon, his soul was erased from existence after Cronos threw his soul into the abyss.
• Persephone – Killed by Typhon.
• Rhadamanthus – Erased from existence after being thrown into the abyss.
• Heron – Sacrificed himself in combat against Typhon.
• Typhon – Head blown off by Heron’s sacrifice.
• Cronos – In an attempt to kill himself and the Olympians, he is destroyed by Seraphim.
