Google is hiring for jobs in Toronto and you don’t need a degree for some roles, Life in canada

Google Canada is looking to hire dozens of people to join its team at the downtown Toronto offices.

The company currently has nearly 30 job postings open across various departments working out of its office on King Street East.

Some roles don’t require a university degree, while others are entry-level positions.

For these Toronto jobs without a degree, you can substitute the post-secondary education requirement with equivalent practical experience you have built up throughout your career.

Here are eight Google jobs currently hiring in Toronto.

Data Centre Technician

Who Should Apply: You should apply if you have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or electronics, or equivalent practical experience.

You will be expected to:

  • Deploy and operate new data centre infrastructure across teams.
  • Report issues and follow data centre procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose complex problems.
  • Maintain data security and integrity while following Google security standards.
  • Take apart specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life.
  • Repair, fix and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure.

To apply, you should also have:

  • At least four years of experience in the maintenance and monitoring of server systems.
  • Experience working within a data or network operation centre environment.
  • Experience in project management and leadership.
  • Experience collaborating and partnering with teams to overcome challenges.
  • The ability to communicate in English.

Senior Internal Controls Manager

Who Should Apply: You should apply if you have at least seven years of experience working in an audit or compliance role where you used industry best practices.

You will be expected to:

  • Assess the risks of regulatory requirements about Google’s contingent workforce, including operational, legal, reputation, cultural, and financial risks.
  • Identify and map controls to regulatory or internal requirements and consider their sufficiency in ensuring compliance.
  • Provide guidance on designing effective controls that meet regulatory, policy, and operational requirements.
  • Help improve processes and controls to mitigate compliance risks.

To apply, you should also have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent practical experience.
  • A CPA/CIA/CCEP/RIMS-CRMP or related certification.
  • Experience in risk management, audit or compliance programs in large organizations with a large contingent workforce.
  • The ability to navigate ambiguity and manage multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • The ability to take initiative to address problems and make continuous process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills with the ability to work with various departments.

Strategic Partner Manager, Devices and Services Sales

Who Should Apply: You should apply if you have experience with selling consumer electronics to Canadian retailers.

You will be expected to:

  • Contribute to implementing effective retail partner agreements that drive results.
  • Work towards the ongoing forecasting, observation, tracking and reporting of the devices market/competitor landscape using data.
  • Help with the integration with marketing, driving business and results.
  • Work within teams to develop and refine strategy and execute initiatives.

  • A Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent practical experience.
  • At least four years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking.

You will be expected to:

  • Lead a team responsible for developing go-to-market strategies.

  • Understand key agreements and deployment projects.
  • Drive demand generation activities with partners through events and campaigns.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 10 years of technology-related sales, business development, channel sales, or partner management experience.

Who Should Apply: You should apply for this role if are currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after completing the internship.

You will be expected to:

  • Participate in research to develop solutions for real-world, large-scale problems.
  • Collaborate on projects that explore creative research challenges and support the invention of breakthrough technologies.

To apply, you should also have:

  • Been currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in computer science, linguistics, statistics, biostatistics, applied mathematics, operations research, economics, natural sciences or any other related technical field.
  • Experience in one area of computer science.

  • Collaborate with a global team of engineers, product teams, content strategists, and other technical writers.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or the equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in web writing and with Markdown, HTML, CSS or JavaScript.

Who Should Apply: You should apply if you have at least three years of experience in program or project management in an enterprise, cloud or technology environment.

You will be expected to:

  • Scale the work of the Google Cloud GTM teams.
  • Communicate status and identify any obstacles and resolutions to stakeholders professionally and promptly.
  • Set expectations on deliverables for stakeholders and contributors.
  • Provide program performance feedback.

  • A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working with C-suite level clients or stakeholders.
  • The ability to communicate fluently in English.

Cloud Developer I, Platform and Infrastructure, Professional Services

Who Should Apply: You should apply if you have at least three years of experience in automating infrastructure provisioning, developer operations, continuous integration or delivery.

You will be expected to:

  • Provide expertise in cloud platforms and infrastructure
  • Be a technical advisor and perform troubleshooting to resolve technical challenges for customers.
  • Create and deliver best practice guidance.
  • Travel for in-region meetings, technical reviews, and on-site delivery activities.
