What New Netflix Movies And Series Are Set To Film in Summer 2025?

9 May 20256 Mins Read

3 Body Problem, Narnia, Outer Banks and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood – Pictures: Netflix / Disney / Sony Pictures

Spring is in full swing! A bunch of Netflix Original movies and series are currently in production, and more will begin filming throughout the Summer. Here’s our quarterly look ahead at what’s set to start filming in the coming months for Netflix. If you missed our Spring 2025 filming schedule list, use the link provided.

As always, here is a word of caution regarding production dates. As we’ve said plenty of times before, all production starts and even finishes are subject to change due to many factors.

This list won’t include many of the titles that are already in production (unless we’ve got updates or tidbits). That means series like Finding Her Edge, The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, The Night Agent season 3, The Witcher season 5, The Gentlemen season 2, Legends, and I Will Find You, which are all in production as this goes live, will wrap up sometime in the next few months. The same applies to movies like APEX, 11817, Enola Holmes 3 and The Whisper Man.

Netflix Series in Production This Summer

  • 3 Body Problem (Seasons 2-3) – Moving from the UK to Hungary (as we first reported), David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will be filming their sci-fi epic for two years, which will ultimately bring their show to a conclusion.
  • A Different World – First announced last year, this new comedy reboot/sequel of the classic sitcom will be filming its pilot in Atlanta, Georgia in late June.
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender (Season 3) – Having just recently wrapped on season 2 (Netflix nor anyone on the production has acknowledged this yet!) and the office now closed, you may be thinking that’s it for a while… That’s not the case, though, as the team is taking a short break over the Spring before picking up filming again. Originally, season 3 was due to kick off in May, although it’s since come to light that it’s been pushed back to June 25th. The film continues in Vancouver and will be completed this November. We’ve also seen rumors of the production heading overseas for what will be the final season, but we can’t back that up right now.
  • Black Doves (Season 2) – Filming on the second season of the British thriller series starring Kiera Knightley is due to get underway in the UK from July 2025.
  • Emily in Paris (Season 5)—Still confirmed for a release in 2025, Netflix confirmed filming had gotten underway on May 8th. Filming will take place in Rome and Paris this season. The codename for filming is Charade, and according to reports, the production was delayed ever so slightly due to the Pope being chosen!

  • Geek Girl (Season 2) – Just recently officially confirmed by Netflix, Geek Girl is returning for an unexpected second season (it was originally dubbed as a limited series) with production due to begin in July in the UK.
  • Little House on the Prairie (Season 1) – Rebecca Sonneshine is showrunning this new adaptation of the classic novel, with filming due to kick off in mid-June and run through early October 2025 in Winnipeg, Canada, with the working title of Independence.
  • Nemesis—Production started at the end of March. This new series, which is the first from Courtney A. Kemp’s overall deal, is set to film in Los Angeles through the end of July.
  • Outer Banks (Season 5) – Originally scheduled to get underway in May, we learned recently that Outer Banks
  • Pride & Prejudice (Limited Series) – A big new series from the United Kingdom that’s going to turn heads is this latest adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, with Jack Lowden, Emma Corrin, and Olivia Colman amongst the cast. Cameras are due to roll sometime in July.
  • Unannounced TV Project in Vancouver—We’ll keep this one quiet until we’re allowed to talk about it, but a new political drama series is starting filming in June and wrapping in September.
  • Untitled FTX Series – According to reports, this series, which has been in development for some time and has Julia Garner currently in talks to lead, will film over the summer. It’ll document the romance between the FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison.
  • Virgin River (Season 7) – Filming has been ongoing on the latest season of VR since March, with cameras set to wrap on June 26th. As we just recently covered, it looks like the prequel series is no longer happening, given that some prequel characters will reappear in season 7.
  • Vladimir – This new limited series with Julia May Jonas and Kate Robin writing and producing and Rachel Weisz set to star was at once stage due to get underway with filming in July in Toronto.

Netflix Movies In Production In Summer 2025

  • 72 Hours – Kevin Hart is headlining this new comedy for Netflix, which will shoot between June and August, with Miami, Florida, expected to be the home of most of the show, with additional shoots in New Jersey. Tim Story is directing.
  • Good Sex – Acquired earlier in the year, filming will get underway for this new Lena Dunham-written/directed movie from early July through to mid-August in New York and New Jersey.
  • Heartstopper – Set to film in the United Kingdom, this will serve as the conclusion to the Heartstopper series, with Kit Connor and Joe Locke confirmed to return, with Wash Westmoreland directing. Kicks off in June 2025.
  • Little Brother – John Cena and Eric Andre are teaming up for this new comedy about a famous real estate agent who has his world flipped upside down when his little brother appears. Filming to kick off in early July and run through late August in New Jersey and New York.
  • Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew—A long-in-the-works project, Greta Gerwig will film the first Narnia movie in London, England, from July/August, with a release date of November 2026.
The Continuing Adventures Of Cliff BoothThe Continuing Adventures Of Cliff Booth

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood – Picture: Sony Pictures

  • The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth – Quentin Tarantino is writing this spin-off film to Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, which is set for a late July shoot through to early 2026 in Los Angeles with David Fincher directing.
  • The Mosquito Bowl – Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis are tapped for this new Peter Berg war drama, which will be filmed in Australia beginning in August.
  • Unannounced musical comedy – Hush-hush on this one, too, until Netflix is ready to announce it, although it’ll be filming in New Jersey for a couple of months beginning in June. Stay tuned!
  • Unannounced romantic comedy—A new romantic comedy is expected to be announced imminently. It will shoot in Vancouver from July through September.

As always, this is likely just a fraction of what’s actually filming for Netflix over the Summer period, given that we only really get word on titles that represent the tip of the iceberg. That’s not to mention, of course, that Netflix has projects from all over the world.

What are you looking forward to seeing on your screens in the coming year or so from this list? Let us know in the comments down below.
